How can/should I use my Expiring Miles?

Over the past few years I have been accumulating Kris points aggressively (thanks online shopping/covid) and due to cancelled flights during COVID,

I am aware that all my points expiring this year are extending by 6 months,

So now I am in the dilemma of all of these points expiring in 2023, I have almost every month 300,000 points expiring,

I can book a Long Haul F for 330kish for myself, and another ticket using different program miles,
but after that im out of ideas what do to?

I dont want to sell or redeem for iphones

I could book 2 more flights for family members long haul F, but thats about it

any advice guys and girls please?

Not as many points as you but similar predicament with expiring points.
If I had a heap I'd book suites to Europe or UK. Just pick somewhere you'd like to go but be flexible. You might want to go to "A" but might only get availability to "B".
In that case I would just get a train to my final destination.

I've had a similar situation, but with far fewer points. They're expiring in December. I've been swanning about southern Europe and booking hotels with them. I've even managed to get one on the Riviera near Monaco for 17k points next week.

Since I don't know my plans next year in detail, I'm a bit stuck booking the remainder. I'm probably going to book a couple of nights in Rome, and a couple in Florence, next spring and take some tours.

are you booking these with the realistic expectation to stay or cancel/rebook?

To stay.

I'm in Italy right now, and am travelling through France back to the UK next week. Next year I'll be here again, I just don't know exactly when. I'll book them for a period that I'm pretty sure I'll be here.

I tried this morning actually to find how to transfer to velocity. In my member login, in profile and partner programs, it says Singapore to velocity is temporarily suspended, dating back to April 2020.

I know velocity to Singapore is back on, but can anyone confirm if Singapore to velocity is actually back on and live?

I'm thinking I will sub out approx 100k expiring KF miles in Mrs account back into velocity, and then replenish those KF miles using amplify points when I need in my account, which has some lesser miles in there with a Dec2023 expiry.

I know I will have a need for velocity for domestic travel late next year - but don't know when. I would have otherwise converted amplify to velocity at that time, so I figure it's a way of minimising losses and giving 'certainty' that if I can't take the domestic trip for whatever reason, if I book using KF that are expiring - I won't lose them completely if I need to cancel.

It's a juggling act, that's for sure.

im really unfamiliar with the velocity program, but I do have an account that I opened years ago,

is transferring to velocity just diluting and making it worse value?

I am looking at Long Haul F/J to USA/Europe Africa/RTW

Bumping this thread - I've also got some miles (120k odd) expiring in March .... any inspirational ideas? I'm struggling.

If the transfer to VA is back on I guess I can do that but ... can't figure that out.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Aren't they being kicked down the road for a further six months, one last time?

From their web site, when I'm logged in and looking at my points.....

Complimentary extension of expiring KrisFlyer miles

Miles expiring between January and June 2023 will be automatically extended at the end of the expiry month, for six months. The new miles expiry date will only be reflected the month after the extension. For more information, click here.

Mrs 2905 and I both have a bit under 170K points each which will start expiring in August for me and October for her. I'm also at a bit of a loss as to what to do with them. I started looking at options yesterday, but nothing appeals to me. They'll probably end up going to VA, and taking the 1.55:1 hit.

It's under Other redemption options > Virgin Australia - Velocity.

I would be booking whatever trip you can that makes sense and useful as soon as possible thus avoiding the stress of worrying about them. If there’s any leftovers, you might be able book some short hop VA flights directly. As a last resort transfer to VA (if possible, but you will lose some in the conversion).

I blew all but 1000 pts early last year for 2x J SYD-LHR Apr/May 2022. With QF status extensions in play, it was the ideal time to burn my SQ (formerly VA pts) and avoid the ongoing stress of worrying about a large sum of points expiring…

I booked two flights from SIN-JFK in J for APR '23 I was really impressed with the availability, especially from other countries in Asia, I had more options flying from Bali for example than SIN. Availability from Aus is really low. Is there a place or places you want to go to in particular?

Oh wow, you're correct! I sort of skimmed the bit at the top, saw the table and thought 'elligible for extension' meant a paid option! Duh!

There's dozens of places I want to go, luckily! Less luckily I sort of had 7 months off my main job this year so I'm at the bottom of the pecking order for leave this year 😄

I was thinking to use them on the United HNL-xGUM-ROR route but seems that's hard to come by (esp for 2 seats ... hubby might divorce me if I don't take him with ...).

That takes the pressure off somewhat - got some breathing room. I'll be in Boston Feb/Mar 2024 so might see what interesting things I can do from there ...

As I have 361,000+ points can anyone advise whether transferring more Velocity points will get me a further three (3) years extension?

I am aware of the 6 month extension ... mine expire Apr '23.

It will not - points have a 3 year life irrespective of other activity.

Are you sure that they expire in April 23? Most people seem to have been extended a further 6 months?

Yes I am aware. The whole COVID rubbish has thrown all our "round the world business class" trip out the window.
