Hi All, I will be arriving at Changi at 8 PM on the 22nd and leaving the next day at 1 PM. Any suggestions for a hotel at or close to the airport. I have no real interest in sightseeing, I would prefer to just put my head down and work on my computer. That way I can relax when I get home.

I wouldn't bother looking for hotel near airport. It is quick and cheap to get to central city hotels and I'm sure you can do better there than near Changi.

For 17 hours the transit hotels are a bit expensive and not comfortable compared with city hotels.

If you don't want to travel away from the airport, then the transit hotel is certainly a tolerable option (one in each terminal). I guess it comes down to how much you want to pay. The rooms are a good size and are comfortable, though many don't have a window (or one worth calling a window). My only complaint on 8-10 hour layovers has been my inability to find the best temperature on the aircon.

I'll second this recommendation. The cab ride is quick and cheap to the city and for the amount of time you have available, you should be able to get out for a walk through the streets and perhaps even a little shopping.

Definately head downtown, the Redezvouz is resonable and well located between orchard rd and raffles plaza area, and is around the $80-90 mark. The transit hotel is OK but books out quickly at times, and taxis are so cheap in Singapore that I often wonder how they make any money!

Really, for that length of stay you can do far better than the airport hotel.

Changi Airport is no more than 30 mins from central Singapore by Taxi/Train.

You can get a good central hotel at quite reasonable rates.

I agree that staying downtown is a better option. It won't take long to get there from Changi.

I've yet to find a hotel room in Singapore with a temperature control that worked properly. They all seem to blast arctic air out no matter what you set the dial to.

You can book the Changi Airport Hotel rooms in advance and they will "hold" the rooms for you for around an hour after your estimated arrival time.

I agree on the transit hotel rooms - small and no windows. Only really meant for a 4-6 hour stay with the purpose of horizontal sleep.

Very near to the airport is Le Meridien Changi Village. Grab some sleep and head down to ECP outdoor seafood centre for a great feed.

Otherwise, downtown is close and cheap by train or taxi. Cruise past the hotel booking desk at the airport and pickup a well priced last minute room.
