Is it worth paying $60 extra for comp breakfast and executive lounge access? I have never stayed at a Hilton let alone been to the exec lounge

For 2, almost certainly. For 1 it's a line ball. Value breakfast at May 15 a head, chuck a few drinks and canapés in and you're doing ok.

Also depends on the quality of the hotel and lounge. Would be worth it at a Conrad, generally.

Thanks for the quick replies Hvr and Cynicor. As it is where I will be staying for AFF #8 I doubt I will consume $60 worth.

Im confused by this offer. Says 30% off...but off what? I can't see any rate that this offer is 30% less than. Is it off the rack rate? If so, how does one find out the rack rate?

If someone could please explain this to me like I'm a numpty, it would be appreciated :)

But thanks for the post. Should be able to make some use of this in Hong Kong later this year.

30% off...but off what? I can't see any rate that this offer is 30% less than. Is it off the rack rate?

According to the T&Cs, it's off the Best Available Rate which they define as:
The Best Available Rate is a specific rate type that varies depending on time of purchase, is unrestricted, non-qualified and excludes discount or negotiated rates
When I search a hotel, it shows 30% off their "Easy Cancellation Rate". Effectively, this is a simple advance purchase rate although I'm not sure just how much a normal AP rate saves though, as I just searched the same hotel outside the promo period and the AP rate came back exactly the same as the 30% off promo special rate so it may be just a smoke and mirrors "special".

Bear in mind, as this is an AP special rate, you won't get the discount to show if you are searching inside the AP minimum advance time (21 days) and the T&Cs also state that the offer is only available up until 31/12/2014, must be booked by 31/7/2014, is subject to availability, may have blackout dates, may not apply to all properties (some have opted out) and the percentage discount even drops to 25% at one property (Hilton Beijing Wangfujing). You also need to use the code “PR09AP ”

The T&Cs also state that lower rates may be available so to be fair, like any special, you have to do your own research to see if you can do better. Personally, the example I searched (Hilton Beijing - AUD168) gave a discount of about AUD60 per night off the next best I could get (AAA rate - AUD228) so if I were to travel to that hotel on that date it would give a discount (roughly 26%). Whether or not that discount is any better than the normal AP rate is anyones guess.

the T&Cs also state that the offer is only available up until 31/12/2014, must be booked by 31/7/2014,

Actually, I'm not entirely sure this is correct. The T&Cs (or should that be the Ts&Cs ;)) define this twice. Firstly they state for travel through 31/7/2014 and then they state booked between 1/6/2014 and 31/7/2014 and completed by 31/12/2014.

What does that mean? Do they mean the stay has be booked and commenced by 31/7/2014 and completed by 31/12/2014 or that the stay just has to be booked by 31/7/2014 and taken before 31/12/2014?

Ok, so looking at the Conrad HK for Oct 18 - 20. This is what I see

Screenshot (2).jpg

$2975 HKD is 30% off which rate exactly here? Either I'm missing something or this is false advertising in my book.

I can't see it clearly, but the AP rate of HKD2975 is shown beside a crossed out price which I cannot see and when I try myself, it's coming up with a forbidden error! (I never knew Hong Kong was the forbidden city). Sorry, I can't help but I'm guessing that crossed out figure is the rate to which the 30% discount is applied.

Crossed out amount is $3500 HKD. Not seeing a 30% discount there.
