I didn't know I could?

Our flights are classic awards, would they still change them? Can't hurt to ask.

Thanks.

Yes definitely push for this, tell them the new schedule is unacceptable and you want to be moved, insist on no fees if they try to charge you

Thankyou Aussie_flyer and Mr_Orange.

I called today, had flight leaving Perth changed from 9.10am to 11.10am.....with no charges! Customer service was very nice about the whole thing too.

Thanks again, I had no idea this could be changed at no cost. Also saving on the overnight accommodation now too, win win!

I think one of the big advantage of the early afternoon arrival in HNL is that there are almost no international arrivals from noon to 3PM. Last time I flew QF3 the immigration hall was exploding with PAX from Japan...I almost kissed and hugged the Global Entry machine! I was landside in 5 min, my colleague arrived at the hotel 2 hours later.

Update with my flight re the changes. When I first read my email about the change, I knew I would have to overnight in Sydney. No dramas, quite happy to break up the flight back to Perth, started looking on Trivago, Hotels Combined to search for hotels. In the meantime got on to Qantas, told me they would overnight me in a hotel. Bonus for me, I really didn't expect them to do that. When talking to the Qantas rep, she asked me if the original 7.25 flight was okay, or did I want to fly earlier. I assumed they would put me on a morning flight, and thought the 7.25 meant in the morning. Received my updated itinary, 7.25 in the evening, so an added bonus, and due to my stupidity I get to spend the day in Sydney, which I am very pleased about. To round off, received my voucher for the hotel today, includes shuttle to and from, $85 in meal vouchers, and the real unexpected bonus, have booked the room for me for 2 nights so I can have a late checkout. I'm a very grateful Qantas customer.

I used to travel to Hawaii regularly on Qantas. 4 years ago they lost my business to The opposition. QF were flying terrible aircraft, had insane business class pricing and a lack of frequency in favour of the Orange Peril. Such disdain for customers could not be rewarded any longer. So I went HA and NZ instead.

Finally QF look to be getting back into the game with a decent product so this year I will book with them. Supply a good product and customers will reward your business with their hard earned. Edit. Just noticed the flight times ... Take back some of what I just said ...

I wouldn't call the B767 a "terrible aircraft" or by that do you mean because they don't fly an A380 into HNL it's all doom and gloom? AFAIK the frequency of QF flights to HNL is the same as it was prior to JQ commencing flights on that route so not quite sure what you mean by that. QF had some recent specials in J to HNL for around $4K return which is pretty good value for HNL.

I have flown JQi OOL/NRT plus BNE/DPS/BNE with all flights being bogan free, all pax well behaved. The two flights I've had in whY on HA were shockers for many different reasons and quite easily the worst flights I've had in whY on any carrier but we only did it because it was an economical way of getting HNL/BNE on Velocity points.

I was thinking it was possibly just a HNL/Aust economy scenario that would be the same for all airlines however after flying QF whY HNL/xSYD/BNE last week it was so civilised compared to both HA experiences. I think having good in seat ife helps keep kids distracted & parents sane but as HA didn't have that at the time you had a planeload of bored kids who were feral plus 6 hours without any food between the first meagre meal offering & the supper prior to landing whereas QF meals were much more substantial and the onboard service of the food was well paced ie no huge gaps getting nothing plus we had a great crew.

I flew on QF3 last week and waited no more than 5 minutes in the queue to by processed by CBP. The walk from the aircraft to the customs hall was about double that.

It looked like an MU flight had arrived before us but doesn't sound like it had quite the impact as your experience with the JAL pax.
