amaroo.. great camera night shots.. slow shutter?
Congrats, & you were so comprehensive with your TR, even as it was in segments the photos worked a treat.
I also covered similar ground when I was in Japan in August, though my TR & photo collection would pale in comparison to yours..
The Park Hyatt looks a fantastic establishment with a positive following.
I look forward to returning to Japan next year for a ski session.. also a new ski destination for me.
Hope you continue your marvellous work for future TR's as time avails..:D
Cheers,
jl

We have a Lumix DMC-TZ20, for night shots - we shut down the flash & hope for the best:D

The PHT is a fine establishment......next time we'll try the Pen.

Enjoy the skiing:cool:

Thanks again for a great TR. The photos are great to give a real flavor to Japan. Kyoto looks fantastic - the temple was beautiful and I've heard the food there is amazing. Lots of good ideas for my trip next year :)

Thank you.

If you would like any details, company names etc, I'm happy to provide. The tour guide in Kyoto was brilliant.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Wonderful memories of my 4 day stopover in Tokyo back in 84. The people were so humble and polite. I can also recall the yen was very favourable to the aussie dollar about 225+:1.

Just re read your TR, thanks again great job.

Agree mongkok is where the real people live in honkers. Always busy , rude but never boring !

Looking at the ¥ this fine morning....mmmm I can see another Japanese trip this year!!

Thanks wazza888 - Wow, that is a great exchange rate. Tokyo would have been a dynamic place to visit in 84!

Thanks Sprucegoose - really enjoyed a different side of HKG. Don't worry, still managed to get over to the Is and enjoy the culinary delights of Yung Kee.....could go some Goose right now (as he licks his lips)

The strange thing about Japan is that the first time we went in the early 80s we were getting nearly 300Y to our dollar yet we could not afford to eat at a restaurant at night. Now with the dollar being around 80Y for the last couple of years restaurants are much more affordable-then again Japan has been on a deflationary path for more than 20 years now.

Good pick up. And this continues as they find reform impossible.

Lovely room, & photos.. I quite like Shinjuku.. & the Hyatt is a wise choice :D

Can you expand a little on why it's a wise choice? I have five nights in Tokyo next September and I'm torn between here and the Grand, or a mix of the two. It will be my first visit to Tokyo and I've heard the Park is a long way from anything.

I have stayed at Hilton shinjuku & find it to be a great location & evidently across the road from Hyatt, which I believe is also a nice property.
I'm in Tokyo at present & am staying at IC Akasaka so shortly shall give some feedback as a point of difference.
Cheers,
