Hi all
I am transiting overnight in Hong Kong tonight. I have never been out of the airport at HKG and as it will be about 2Am my time when I arrive I will be a bit dazed and confused. I was just wonderin gf anyone experienced with HG airport could give me a bit of an idiots guide?

I am staying at the Regal AIrport hotel, Cheong Tat Road. GIven my chinese is a little sketchy (being non-existent) I am wondering the best way to teh hotel, expected cab fare (if necessary) and best way to communicate where I am going to...

Any help would be appreciated :)

I assume you're on Cathay? They have a late leaving flight from Syd arriving around 5am. That's a good flight because the last time I caught it the airport was empty when we arrived! No queues on immigration etc.

I know very little about HKG airport hotels. However, I did a quick seach, and the hotel seems to be connected to the hotel by a walkway.

In effect, catching a cab would probably be similar to catching a cab from Melbourne Airport to the Melbourne Airport Hilton :)

Arrivals at HKG come out on level 5. You want to merge to the left (to Arrivals Hall A) and instead of jumping on the Airport Express turn left. There is a walkway parallel to the train line. (Train will be closed at that hour I think).

You're unlikely to have any language issues.

Thanks - perhaps should have done the search myself  I guess I overthink things sometmes and assume they will be more complex than they really are

I suggest you have a look at the Hong Kong Forum on FT; it's may have the info you need; otherwise you can ask a question. (Unlike a couple of those on the AA forum, the members who frequent this board seem to be generally more civil.) I guess you are departing late afternoon tonight; so you have a little time.

There isn't any really good maps that I can find to show you - basically you turn left towards the taxi queues and the walkway is there.

The walk is around 150metres, and appears to be via moving walkways.

There should be English signs, but if not someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

Agree with Serfty's comment about the FT Hong Kong Forum.

Thanks - I am more confident about tonight now. I might post on FT later - if I find a Tokyo forum ;). I am in HKG for one night on my way to NRT, Tokyo for 2 days and then to HKG for 3 days and then HOME!!!
