Had some time before my flight back home last week to do a cheeky lounge run for old times sake and to check out what’s new in HKG.

Lounge #1

The Wing First Class

Located in T1 near gate 2. Can be accessed after security on the south end of the terminal or from gate 1-4 downstairs.

Let’s start the day with glass of champagne in this beautiful lounge.

Followed by early lunch at The Haven.

But the Sichuan eggplant was amazing!

IMG_4345.jpeg

I do order this dish occasionally in Chinese restaurants and I reckon CX version is one the best.

After the meal it’s time to relax in one of the Cabana suites.

Lounge #2

Sky Deck & Sky Bar

While technically not an airline lounge this is the place I was most excited to check out for the first time.

IMG_4349.jpeg

Access is opposite gate 24.

IMG_4350.jpeg

It’s basically a long bridge with amazing runway views. On one end is the Sky Deck which I can only describe as an avgeek paradise.

On the other side of the bridge is the Sky Bar which offers set menu for PriorityPass so I’ve decided to check it out. Sadly I forgot to take photo of the menu but the choice was between pasta dish or 3 Pinchos, choice between 3 coughtails plus tea or coffee. I chose the Pinchos and sour coughtail they recommended from the list.

The raspberry coughtail was great but the food wasn’t anything special so didn’t eat much of it.

Overall it’s a nice bar (couldn’t take photos as it was packed) but there are probably better options to use PP in HKG.

Lounge #3

The Deck

This is one of CX J lounges. Located in T1 near gate 6.

IMG_4362.jpeg

It’s a smallish lounge but with nice decor and spacious area overlooking the terminal.

IMG_4363.jpeg

IMG_4365.jpeg

I was there just few minutes

IMG_4364.jpeg

There’s buffet and dining area with small menu to choose from. Everything is selfs serve, there’s no table service here. I got a bowl of Dan Dan noodles, classic CX dish served in all their J and F lounges.

IMG_4366.jpeg

IMG_4367.jpeg

Small rest area, some pax were sleeping there although it didn’t look very comfortable. At least it was quiet.

Lounge #4

Qantas

Located in the northern side of T1 just after security.

Frankly the only reason to visit this lounges is if you too much time and nothing better to do. Ah and the caramel cheesecake, gotta have the caramel cheesecake, it’s sooo good! Apart from that it’s a nice specious lounge but the drinks are cheap and food is meh.

IMG_4376.jpeg

Used to like coming here pre-Covid as P1 to receive the royal treatment, sit down for a while and go to have dinner at The Pier, which is exactly what I did today.

Lounge #5

The Pier First Class

Located in T2 near gate 63. Note there’s train from T1 to T2 but not vv so if your departure gate is at the other end better leave about 10 min earlier to allow leisurely walk back to T1.

IMG_4377.jpeg

Such a beautiful lounge, love the decor.

Let’s kick off things with an espresso martini from the bar.

Time to grab something to eat in the restaurant.

As CX trying to improve service and catering a decision was made to take over the lounges from 3rd party contractors and manage them themselves. The first and only lounge so far that is run directly by CX is Pier F in HKG. Staff members got new sleek uniforms and new tasting menu introduced as part of collaboration with Rosewood.

I’m impressed. The coughtail was good and food was great! Some of the best lounge food I ever had.

Wine list didn’t look too enticing so I’ve continued with coughtails and ordered dirty martini 🍸. It was good 👍

IMG_4400.jpeg

The chef brought this raspberry chocolate tart and insisted I must try it. Had two bites to be polite but I was too full at this stage.

IMG_4401.jpeg

That’s it, almost boarding time. Need to walk all the way back to T1 which is probably a good thing as I need to move a bit after all that food and drinks 😛

Catching the old non refurb QF A380 back home but it’s ok, I’m seating downstairs and not in Y 😉

Do you need a proper PP membership or get the food and drink or can you use the Amex provided one?

Thank you - brings back great memories of the days of flying CX with a QF Plat card. Remember my first shower in one of the Pier cabanas - there were a couple of dinky nozzles down at chest height. Nothing to fear there so just I turned on the tap - but I hadnt seen the half metre wide shower rose way up in the ceiling and was quite unprepared for the deluge. Followed the near-drowning with an excellent meal in the haven. Lovely space, that whole lounge, and so well positioned immediately after Immig, a quick L turn and you're in heaven..

Thanks @boomy . I missed seeing this, notwithstanding what you said over coffee!! Definitely a planning tool for the lounge crawl coming up.

The Wing First looks amazingly spruce and crisp. Has it had a refurb, do you know? Last time I was there was about 2012.

The Pier First I think is absolutely the best FC lounge in the world of the many I have been in.

And also pleased to know I'm not the only one who really doesn't enjoy the Qantas lounge.

🖐️ Me too. Would be very hard to enjoy knowing the other goodies on offer.
