Good afternoon,

We’ll be flying VA/HA codeshare from SYD to HNL in late March, then bouncing around the islands on a few HA 717s over a ten day period.

Seats in J, nice hotels, rental cars all sorted.

Any advice for making the journey special?

We’re not really the “it’s our honeymoon so pay attention to us” types.

And VFF platinum should smoothe the way a little already (though not so much on HA).

But your pointers/advice on discreetly making the journey nice and special would be much appreciated.

Honeymoon travel anecdotes, anybody?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Organise for the hotel to have something nice waiting in your room for when you arrive (champagne on ice, private dinner table set-up, massage tables etc).

Are your hotels into social media? If they're on Facebook or Twitter (Twitter especially) it's worth a tweet including their tag, saying how excited you are to be coming from Australia and staying there on your honeymoon, blah blah... they might notice and make a note on your booking to do something special for you. It's a little bit 'look at me', but they sometimes appreciate the public word of mouth.

Also, one time a friend of mine wanted to make a bit of a fuss for his wife on a flight for their anniversary. As BYO is not generally accepted, he pre-warned the airline that he wanted to bring a very special bottle of wine to be served on board for his wife for the anniversary and asked if it was ok. They were happy to oblige with the heads up and made the flight extra special.
