I am travelling to Hobart for 4 nights from Sat 11 Nov and have not booked any accommodation.

There is not much availability for Saturday, and some properties for most of the 4 nights, and what there is available is very expensive. I know that this Saturday is Rememberance Day but did not think that this event could cripple the accommodation available in a city the size of Hobart. Is there any other reason? Annual show? Annual conferences?

I am currently looking on Wotif for any decent motor inn's or motels. Anyone have any recommendations for a place at around $100/night?

I suggest ringing Hadley's Hotel and asking what they can do. I notice they have the 12th available on wotif.com but they might be able to do something about the 11th as well. I always stay there and it's quite pleasant. Very well renovated.

[John,

Hotels availability differs by day; often when booking a multi day stay (online or otherwise) you get the max rate for any one day in the period quoted for all the days.

e.g. At one place Nov 11 may be $120, Nov 12 & 14 amy be $80 and Nov 13 $70- you will get $480 quoted.

So sometimes dailybookings are the go ...

A quick look a Wotif or NeedItNow shows 11th is generally costly, but other days are cheaper.

My picks for Hobart but slightly dearer would be:

Salamanca Inn, City Salamanca Inn All Suite Hotel

or

Lenna of Hobart, Battery Point Welcome To Lenna of Hobart - Hobart's most stylish, historic hotel...

or

Rydges, North Hobart Rydges Hobart Accommodation in Hobart Tasmania Hotel

or

The Astor, City Astor Private Hotel, Hobart - Your home away from home in central Hobart

or

Woolmer's Inn, Sandy Bay Woolmers Inn Motel and Apartments

I've stayed at all of them a number of times, and Salamanca Inn would be my pick. You could also try one of the guest houses in Battery Point. A friend of mine stays at one of them that he swears by, but I can't remember the name. Battery Point is easy walking distance to the city.

Cheers,

Thanks for the replies.

There is hardly any property left with 4 consecutive nights accommodation (and the ones that do are very expensive), some have 3 consecutive nights accommodation and most only have 1-2 nights available.

I still don't understand what is happening in Hobart this weekend or early next week but it looks like I may be staying in various properties checking in and out everyday.

Thanks for that. And I happen to stumble into Hobart during the inaugural Hobart Beerfest in the middle of Winter.

But don't worry good things happen to good people sometimes. ;) I persevered and called Hobart MidCity Hotel this afternoon and managed to book a family room for 4 consecutive nights @ $120/night.

Accommodation problem solved.

Again thank you to all the people who replied to this thread.

I agree. Hadleys has a bit of old world charm and is well located to the waterfront and its restaurants and the CBD.
