Yes $669 or whatever it is is to much for JQ, mabye $550 one way, and they should only do 2 flights per week, not 5 flights:eek:

And guys, you said light loads, actually how light are we talking about:?:
Airlines won't tell exactly. But there are 50+ seats available on any flight over the next month. I had one report from a TA that a clients flight a few weeks ago (pre-Easter) had only about 140 going over and perhaps less coming back. From what I was told they do well during school holidays but light the rest of the time, with some exceptions of course.

Interestingly it seems all JQ international schedules finish at the end of January 2009, so I guess all options are open after then for new schedules and destinations. Not that that would stop them dumping a service such as HNL prior to that, they would just move passengers over to QF or give refunds.

Frankly given that the QF and JQ fares are currently the same, if QF flew AVOD equiped A330's or 744's on tis route then I doubt JQ would sell a single economy seat.

I was on JQ4 HNL-SYD yesterday. The flight was about 1/3 full (I was travelling with 3 other people and we each had a row of 4 to lie across in economy). My QF contacts tell me that the route is supported by cargo (there was a hell of a lot loaded) and the 330 carrys more than the 767, so we're likely to see JQ there for a while even if the cabin is empty.

For the record, while I've generally been happy with JQI service, yesterdays flight was awful. Without a doubt the worst food I've ever had onboard an aircraft, and the BKK crew really struggled with English. Dare say I won't be jumping onboard JQI again.

Confirms what I have been hearing. The route will not survive on moving freight, there are more cost effective ways to do that. I just booked a flight coming back via Hawaii from the US mainland in September on QF4. My TA tells me the J cabin only had 6 seats left, this far out and Y is similarly 70% full, so QF seems to be going along okay here.
