Friend just booked round-trip in late September/early October for $2800 return on HA (full flats).

Also possible was a return to SYD for the same price. MEL attracted a significant surcharge which appears to be the cost of a full-fare QF business class add-on.

Qantas is asking in the $5000-6000 range for business class during the same time.

Must be finished. Couldn't find any dates available.

I just found one combination for $2900 - leaving end september - but then i went back to find it again after playing with different dates and it too seems to have gone. The normal fares are in the $3400+ range up to $5500. The current QF sale is looking better at $3800 return.
