Wanted to add my 2c to this thread. Visited HK a couple of weeks ago and went to Lee Baron on recommendation on this thread. (Was coincidentally staying at the Sheraton on Nathan Rd, so talk about convenient!)

All up I had made two wonderful suits, three shirts and a coat, which because I decided at the last minute I wanted, I received by courier today. The fits are all excellent, the prices were very reasonable (about $350 for the suit from memory, which was in the pure wool fabric; $45 a shirt) and everything looks great. Charlie was the one who helped me with everything and was excellent -- very patient, willing to help and provide advice on style and fit, etc., and was also just very friendly, which is handy for a novice like me!

I'd definitely recommend them...

Also wanted to add my 2 cents. Just got back from HKG today. Paid a visit to Lee Baron. Very friendly staff, happy to spend their time with you deciding on options etc.
I had 1 suit jacket, 2 matching pants and 4 shirts tailored up for ~$800ish.

A few people I have spoken to all gave Sam's the big thumbs up.

The thing they liked about Sam was a quick ph call and they made more shirts and sent them back to Aust.

All perfect fits.

I can personally recommend Lee Baron Fashions - Peter Lee has been operating there for some 30 years. I have been buying from Peter since 2006 and make it a habit of going there at least twice a year. He is in Far East Mansion Building 5-6 Middle Road, Tsimm Sha Tsui, shop 33.:p

Peter's tailored shirts work out at about $40AU - full cotton - and I am still wearing some of the shirts that I bought back in 2006. I have also had suits, linen jackets, and pants made by him. I have recommended Peter to anyone who asked.

About the only problem with getting to Peter (depending on where you stay) is getting past those pesky copy watchers in Nathan Road - thanks heavens I know my way around Kowloon well enough to avoid them! :)

As an aside - if you are interested in hand-made shoes for the same price as off-the-rack shoes here - Mr Zui (in the same building) is great - just ask Peter to walk you around to him. :p

Happy shopping!:!:

leebaron.ca - Lee Baron Fashion Ltd.

I've always been interested in buying custom-made shoes. My feet aren't easy to fit. What's pricing and quality like?

Regarding shoes from the guy around the corner from Lee Baron. Mr Timtammi had 2 pairs made as per my previous post. He also is not easy to fit being a good size 12 here in Aus and with quite narrow feet. He has 2 pairs of work dress shoes made, one the same as a sample from the shop, the other a copy of a pair we saw and took a photo of. From memory they were about AUD $150 - $200, fit perfectly, look extremely expensive and according to him are very comfortable. He spent a week standing at a trade show in shanghai wearing them last week and said that his feet did NOT hurt.

Cheers

Timmi

What was the name of the shoemaker? I may go and take a look..

When you walk down Nathan Rd you will find many shoe makers and also suit makers.

They will all come from Melbourne or where ever you are from and will then ask if you know this person who is a very good friend of there's that lives in Aust

His name is Mr Zui (I believe I have the spelling correct) will check one of my old receipts when I can. He's a long-time friend of Peter Lee of Lee Baron Tailors in the same building - if unsure, ask Peter for an introduction.

As others have said, his hand-made shoes are perfect - in fact, I have a pair on right now - have four pairs of his and they are still as good as the day I had them on for the first time. Excellent value for money!

I just stumbled back on this thread so sorry for not responding sooner. I can't remember the shoemakers name but Mr Zui sounds right, he is in the same building as Lee Baron and they will take you around and introduce you if you ask them. Its just a little cobblers shop, nothing fancy but the shoes are GOOD.

I used William Cheng in February and was very happy with the shirts and blazer I had made.

I would highly recommend Cosmo Circle Tailors, They are not the cheapest but they do qaulity work, when I was there 4 years ago they were located in the shopping complex under the Shereton. The best part is once they have your sizes you can order more via the internet and they come to Brisbane & Sydney once a year to re measure existing customers & they keep your records. I was measured at 1200hrs, went back at 1800 hrs for a fit & picked up all the goods the next day at 1200 hrs

I used to use Cosmo Circle, picked up my first few sets of suits for work from them. However, after some more research and reading and having now gone to Lee Baron on two separate occasions I have switched tailors. With that said, there have been a few more issues with Lee Baron than with Cosmo, as in items have not turned out as expected or fitting. However, the overall quality and knowledge is actually a step above Cosmo for comparable prices in my opinion.

The upside to Cosmo is that they tour Australia twice a year and I have introduced quite a few colleagues to them.

Actually going back to Lee Baron tomorrow to fix up some issues, after bringing the suits home. Looking at the prices people are quoting, most seem to be using house fabrics and half canvas?

Well I ended up getting 2 suits with 2 pairs of pants each and 11 shirts from Rocky Brothers which is just around the corner from Lee Baron. I found at Lee Baron they weren't that interested and were stupidly high in price. Whereas I had great service from Rocky. It's probably cost me under $1000 for everything.

Beware the tailor that pushes "quality of fabric". That is the least important in shirt / suit making.

I had them all bang on about quality but rocky was more into the workmanship.. I was happy with that and that they visit Australia twice a year too. Had first fitting today and collect on Tuesday..

Was 11 shirts too many!?!? Lol!!

yeah quality of the fabric is an external factor and independent of the tailor... i can be a muppet buy the best fabric in the world
but a good tailor will know how to fit and measure you etc - that is what they should sell themselves on

same with diamonds... everyone goes on about most of the Cs which are external and naturally occuring.. but nobody ever pays attention to what is most important - cut...

I used Lee Baron as recommended here, in March. Super efficient service, great product, fits perfectly. Very happy.

Used William Cheng in February, was very happy. Navy blazer with Super 130 for about AUD$370. Easy to iron shirts at about AUD$40 each.
