I’m hoping that someone can point me to where I can find historical information on Australian domestic air fares.

I remember seeing something on a government website, but that didn’t provide any breakdown aside from month to month, for the whole of Australia.

Specifically, I’m looking at airfares from the West coast to the East coast, around 2 years ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

For information regarding Airfares and traffic best stop is the BIRTE (Bureau Infrastructure and Regional Economics) which is the new version of DoTARS

bitre. gov. au

There are a few PDF and excel spreadsheets on Ticket prices and volume from 1992 and their earlier annual reports go back further including pre-pilots dispute...Great resource used in many a presentation

Usually just search Airfares and should work

Hope this is what you were after...there search function is a little clunky but should turn up desired results after refining search options (typical government site)

AirservicesAustralia also return some useful data

thanks winchester,

was going to include that but couldn't post a weblink due to the <10 post rule

Cheers

Thanks guys, that was the page I had seen before.

That Excel spreadsheet doesn’t show a city-by-city comparison – just some averages across the whole of Australia.

Have I missed something?

the "avline" documents on the BIRTE website also contain data and more detailed city pair data and i know that there is, somewhere is the abyss of a website that it is, an excel spreadsheet which has city pair by city pair data including avg Y airfare, load factor RSK, ASK's etc

I did a quick search for you but could not find sorry, just trawl the search function i recall that is what i did when i last looked for it.

Sadly most data for airfares is not in real terms but rather indexed. which is annoying

hope this helps, sorry last stuff didnt
