I received an email from [email protected] to thank me for my stay in Nottingham UK. Only problem is, it wasn't me; haven't been to the UK for 18 months! The receipt had my name, address, diamond number. Not sure how someone managed to check in to the hotel. I never received a booking confirmation. Not sure what is going on. HH were very unhelpful. Hilton Nottingham is ringing me back. Not sure whether my account is compromised. I wonder whether I get some points for the stay.

How's your Hilton Honors account looking? No points missing?

Account seems intact. From what I can tell from talking to HH and Nottingham, a "new" staff member had checked in a customer of the same name and erroneously manually added my HH to their third-party booking. A lot of this still doesn't make sense to me, as Hilton doesn't normally acknowledge status on a booking not on their platform. The hotel ducked and weaved saying it was a system error, and my account was added "automatically", until I started asking the hard questions. This is all around unsatisfactory; HH guestassistance still hasn't responded to my concerns.

More importantly, was your credit card charged?
No. They offered up their own card; there are so many red flags here of identity even if we apparently do have the same name. To think the desk can assign an account to another member without at least an address check or some other verification is concerning

Depends.
Could have been a mistype on card number that just happened to have a similar name.
Or maybe Hilton have some lookup feature by surname and they clicked on the wrong entry.

Wouldn't be overly concerned

Seems like it was the latter by a new hotel desk person. I have a bunch of points across many accounts to protect so I am always concerned if there appears to be a breach. Alert not alarmed. HH is not concerned, they haven't even bothered to get back to me.
