Unless the room rate is more, I always book my room with 2 guests even if travelling alone...never had any problem bringing a male or female guest with me

It varies from hotel to hotel. The documentation for Hilton Barcelona Diagonal Mar specifically mentioned you could bring one additional guest to the lounge as well as those who were registered for the room. Many other hotels don't comment about guests, but seem to allow it.

I envisioned this thread to be so that people could find out that they're staying in the same hotel on the same dates and meet up - it was because two people in the "how does hilton treat you as an elite" thread realised they were in the same hotel at the same time, but it wasn't known until after they left because generally people update that thread AFTER they leave (which is fair enough for that thread!).

My only experience of trying to guest a workmate also staying at the same hotel (Adelaide), I was told I would have to pay for him to be in the lounge.

We went down to the main bar.

At the risk of going even further OT I had cove, Mrs cove and Flashware accompany me as my guests at Hilton Tower Bridge Lounge.
I was asked for my room number but not billed for additional guests.
I think it probably does vary with hotels but I agree with beardoc that it's good to be able to know if others are staying at the same hotel as you for potential lounge meet-ups

Wouldn't be many. Gold doesn't get Exec Lounge access unless upgraded to an Exec room

I did stay in Hilton's when I had no status....but not as many as I do now for the extra benefits received.
