Hilton Macquarie Card Discontinued 1 May 2019.

I just received an email from Hilton Honors that my current status will be extended to 31 March 2021. This has worked out great for me as I have basically been gifted diamond status for 3 years without hitting the $40K spend.

My email says my gold or diamond status. May depend what I am on April 30!

I spent zero dollar since I joined and I’ve been HH Diamond since.
Stayed at a Hilton property maybe once or twice per year, not many you can use here in Australia.

You can use a lot here. You just need to find when a standard room is available to book and only then can you use your free weekend certificate.

How do you access this free weekend certificate? To be honest I forgot I have this card

I can't remember how much it was but I must have spent the minimum to get a bonus and I got a free weekend night that turned into an absolute debacle because they couldn't book before the cut off because of the software changes so they gave me a free night anywhere in the world that expires at the end of January 2020. I don't think I ever spent $12k but somehow I'm diamond so I'm not going to ask. If they make me Diamond for the next two years I'll just keep my mouth shut

same thing has happen to me. i am tired of calling and emailing them about the free reward cert. who and which number should i be calling to get the expired nov reward cert reissued?
i think its a good card to keep when the upgrade is done as its the only rewards card that doesn't charge foreign currency fees apart from citi diners club companion card that i know off that doesn't have a annual fee ? just need to remember not to spend over 4k per cycle as you don't earn points. how much are the new points system worth? whats the ratio and how much would one need to spend to cash in a $100 gift card?

4k per cycle is only for the qantas card. You can earn as much macquarie points as you want at the full rate.

By completing the 40k spend and qualifying at this time, it would have given you Diamond until March 2021 anyway, without the card getting shut down.
It is pretty good though, enjoy your diamond status.

When you qualify for status, you get the rest of the current year plus all of the next year. Hilton status gives a few months extra until a status expires so in March. So qualifying now would have given you status for the rest of 2019 and all of the 2020 staus year. If you don’t qualify again in 2020, the status expires nornally in March 2021.

Now that Hilton have finally updated the status counter, I am a bit confused. I have been Diamond thanks to this card for years, but of course, that is coming to an end in March '21. I stay around 30 nights per year and started 2019 with 22 rollover nights towards Diamond (only qualifying for Diamond due to the Macquarie card). I stayed 34 nights in 2019, and have started this year with Diamond and no rollover nights.

Can anyone make sense of this? I was a bit surprised to get the rollover nights to start 2019.

It’s gone live overnight, in your Account.

Edit: Status has just been updated for 2020, based on last year’s stays/nights/spend. It goes down for about the first 2-3 weeks in January, and then comes back up.

Phoning/emailing Customer Service should get you the answer (for expiry). In any case, it is held for the rest of the calendar year in which it was achieved, then for the following year, and ending on 31st March in the year after that.

Has everyone who received Diamond status thanks to the Macquarie card had their roll over nights drop to zero? As Macquarie/Hilton have given us status through March '21, I would have thought our roll over nights would have been whatever we stayed in 2019.

Yes I had the Macquarie Hilton and the rollover nights dropped to zero. But I thought you only get the rollover for the nights in excess of the nights required to qualify for a tier. So since I didn't have any excess in the 2019 calendar year, then the 2020 rollover night count from 2019 would be zero.
