Agree as well - just availability on a standard guest room required to be able to use the certificate. Rather than just click the agree though I thought I'd add that this does also include the Adelaide Hilton as I rang up a few weeks ago and used two for later this year there. All the best!

my reward certificate is about to expire at the end of nov i have never stayed at a hilton hotel before. i want to use it for a family trip of 2 adults and 2 kids aged 6 and 7 to NZ chc this month. do i just call up the 1800 in the email or the christchurch hotel directly and ask for a standard guest room on a weekend as required to use the certificate? or do i book a standard room for 1 adult and 2 kids and then add the wife as a guest for free later on. can one still bring your wife in on the “partner stays free” promise ? my gold status was also upgraded to diamond even though i only spent 2.5k. does that mean i can request free room upgrade and brekky before arrival on upon check in?

In the past, I’ve checked availability on- line first, then phoned Hilton Honors to book. The hotel won’t want to speak with you when boking an award certificate.

thanks for you reply. i just called res hotline and they said their system is down so i cant use the certificate and recommends i call macquire to get cert extended. has any one had any luck doing this? mine expires on 28th nov so its kind of urgent. also he said i cant use in in christchurch for 2 adults and 2 kids as standard room there is only for 2 adults. so might have to book i night in brisbane before it expires even though i live there lol. does anyone know if there is a hilton in noosa qld ? i though there was but he said no.

@coolstepslg, no Hilton’s in Noosa - the nearest north of Brisbane is Cairns (it has both Hilton & DoubleTree).

Sounds like Hilton BNE is your best bet to use the Certificate

Try and get it extended..a lot easier than your other options

Although you'll want a decent extension, because you want to book in the shoulder and peak season (Schoolies into school holidays). That's why Certificates expiry dates need to be well managed, lest you get to the end of the eligibility and find you can't use them.

I've found you should book with 1adult and 2 children. This has worked for my family of 2 adults and 3 kids (9,8,4). If the hotel wants to charge extra for anything, it is their right to. I don't hide the fact at check-in.
The booking system for hotels does not work for 2 adults and 2 children.

For 2 adults and 2 children, you need either a Suite or a double double room (neither of which are likely to be available using the free certificate). I agree with foggy above, as Spouse Stays Free.

thanks foggy and QF wp for the input its been helpful for trying to do a family booking. i called hotel directly and found that they were more helpful and easier to understand then the other overseas call centre staff. told them i wanted to make a reward cert booking for 1 adult and 2 kids aged 5 and 7 ( may have been off the mark a little about their age slightly) and she checked with her manager and got it approved to stay in a standard room together with only 1 king bed and given the option of paying $50 for extra roll out bed. however the new system upgrade wouldn't let the booking to be finalised and she said i needed a minimum of 5000 points to complete the booking as she was getting an error. she advised me to call back again after 24hrs to see if hilton honors program system update is resolved but said that there will be no guarantee that the room will still be available. i emailed diamond team too to see if they can help me but they just replied saying click on the link to live chat or call them directly not sure if i have another 1 hr of time to waste or wait 24hrs to see if system is fixed. So will spouse stay for free even though booking is for only 1 adult and 2 kids upon check in at reception or will they deny us the room unless we pay extra for a bigger room or roll out bed? i know they may upgrade room for free with diamond status but its subject to availability upon check in right?

I have enjoyed this card for a long time now! Signed up a few years ago when it was a $0 fee promotion. Got upgraded to diamond basically after $500 spend which was crazy. My diamond expires next year so I have just about pumped 40k through it to extend it..

Still haven't received my free night for 12k spend though. I was hoping to get it asap as I was trying to book conrad in hongkong for end of the year... Been 3 weeks now. Hopefully soon!

Thanks. Yeah my new year started in october and the bank said I have reached the amount but need to wait until a few months to get it...

I can get a room in hongkong for 30,000 hilton points which isn't too bad. I might need to just use the voucher another time. I did some math and if i transferred the hilton points (30k) to velocity, even with the 15% transfer bonus, 30k points gives 5175 velocity point which at 1.2c per point is $75ish.. better to just redeem for a room!

As I'm a diamond member, has anyone redeemed a basic room and still get a free upgrade at checkin if available?

Yep Mongkok. I wanted to use my free hilton weekend night for conrad but I haven't got the voucher yet. I've never redeemed or used my hilton points but based on my calculations 30k is a good for standard king room and I'll get the perks of diamond. Better than transferring to velocity. Don't think conrad is worth the extra 50k!
I dont get a free voucher at renewal. I get a hilton voucher at 12k spend for every card year.
