Called Macq tonight. The call centre doesn't know what is going on except to say "their client service team is reviewing things currently... and that they can take down our email address to send us communications once they have something to send." There was no ETA on when these comms was going to be. So we're none the wiser just yet.

Our welcome pack does say "Annual Fee (primary & secondary holders) = $0 debited to you on first use of the card, and then on each anniversary of the date we first issued a card to you". So I interpret this as $0 for the life of the card which is better than the online advert that previously had said "free for the first year".

Good that you're paying $0.

I'm still paying $295, but I think it's worth it with the free night per year and the five days of full buffet breakfast at Conrad Hong Kong and a one night suite upgrade during my last stay as diamond.
 
I was looking at applying for this card, I just looked online and it isn't there still.

URGH ! If only there were more cards like the Mac Hilton card.......

I reached $40k spend earlier this week. Just received an email from Hilton notifying upgrade to Diamond with expiry 31 March 2020.

It is frustrating that Macquarie don't know what is going on with this card / product. I've had three calls with them over the last month, each call resulting in the call center 'checking with a supervisor' and then requesting details and assuring me that they will email an update once they have escalated it to management.

Based on this level of service, would not be a customer, but of course I only want the card for the Hilton benefits. Maybe someone will offer something more challenging in the market.
 
Reached my 2k spend about 2 weeks ago.

Linked my hilton acc but still showing silver and no free night cert
 
Could be that Macquarie has lost the rights to AMEX, similar to the US. If so, we should see a new card pop up soon.
 
Let's hope so...I'm sick of Qantas points, and would have found the Hilton Gold / Diamond very very useful with some upcoming travel.
 
I'm finding the Diamond status afforded by the Macquarie card very handy with upcoming travel to the USA. I find Diamond status much better than between 40K and 80K QFF points (depending on card multiplier) - already getting enough on my other credit card and Qantas Wine to subsist on Business Class upgrades year round.
 
Ironically this happened to us today...

1. My wife originally applied for the card ~1 month ago - was successful in getting the card
2. It sounds as if a few days after receiving the card in the mail the Macq website stopped applications
3. I applied for a secondary card last week
4. Today my wife got an email from Macq "Please be advised that we are not accepting any new Hilton Credit Card applications at this point in time. You may continue to check our website for alternative products available at macquarie.com/au/personal/credit-cards" (not sure if that was for her original application or my application as...)
5. I received my supplementary card today and have successfully registered it

I called them to ask about the Macq Card and if a replacement was coming out or if our benefits would stay the same.
The lady said she didn't know about a replacement card, but the T&C's is something Hilton have gone into with us when I was approved, so they need to adhere to the T&Cs of the card.
 
Guys check your elite status. Seems Macquarie has been upgrading people to Diamond Status without meeting the $40k spend. Both my friend and I have received the Diamond upgrade and valid till March 31st 2020. Happy days.

Indeed they have : I was changing a booking this am and there it was ….
I am closing in rapidly on the 40k but was not there yet.
It may be all about to end , but this card has been a great deal .
 
It has happened before, extra certificates have been sent in the previous years as well.
