Can anyone suggest who to talk to regarding cancellation? I guess they have a Cancellations/Retention team. Or is it just the regular 1300 150 300 number that deals with this?

Anyone who got this card earlier on the $99 first year promo have any joy getting them to change over to the fee free option?

I tried and they wouldn't budge at all from the $295 fee, so I had to cancel the card.

Question is, has anyone cancelled an existing Macquarie Hilton card and then successfully reapplied for a new Macquarie Hilton card on the current $0 annual fee? No point trying if it's going to be a wasted hit on my credit score.

I have not spent over $40,000 in a year on this card, so have no first-hand experience.

However, the card T&C says: ... [SUP]9[/SUP] If, during any anniversary year of your Account (which commences either on the date your Account was opened or on the anniversary of the date your Account was opened), you spend at least $40,000 on eligible purchases on your Hilton HHonors Macquarie Platinum Card, you will be upgraded to Hilton HHonors Diamond status. You will retain Diamond status for the anniversary year in which it was earned through to the end of the following anniversary year. Thereafter, in order to maintain Diamond status, you must meet the annual qualifying purchase requirements during an anniversary year with your Hilton HHonors Macquarie Platinum Card or meet the standard requirements outlined in the Hilton HHonors Program at HHonors.com/Terms ..."

I have no idea about how HHonors monitor the "anniversary dates" for credit card opening. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Diamond status would remain until 31 March 2019 (i.e., the usual status cycle), for reaching Diamond from 1st January 2017, unless the HHonors system is sophisticated enough to identify credit card account anniversary dates for each card holder.

Others may have first hand experience.

Interesting fine print. I'd be surprised if Hilton's system could handle the varied anniversary dates though.

Colour me excited. But it will be an uphill battle to convince Macquarie to lend to me.

I did try to change to the fee free option but was told it's for new applications only

I applied on Monday, got a phone call Wednesday to go through and confirm all the numbers I'd put in the application (they told me that my expenses seemed "quite high" and they wanted just groceries and bills etc, so I revised downwards); since then I haven't heard a peep.

I applied for mine on Monday and had to phone them up in order to find out if I was successful. Apparently I was and the card had been sent out two days ago, but I received no email or confirmation either way

Looks like I am cutting up my Amex "business" card and swapping spend to Macq Hilton so I can retain HH Diamond

Harvey Norman - although they won't sell denominations higher than $300 and might not sell any right now due to their not structuring well the Amex offer discussed elsewhere in AFF.

If you find somewhere run, the largest Vpay does is only $300

The second free weekend cert is only given on the first anniversary of the card?

Thus even if I spend 12k in the first month, I won't get it till then?

Anyone got it straight after the 12k before anniversary? Looking to leverage 2 weekend nights at conrad samui

Now that it is 2017 which link is the best to use to sign up for a card.

Currently Hilton Silver so Gold would be nice.

anyone know whether previously does this card offer Qantas points bonus when signing up ? I applied and got approved for this card last Nov but cant recall any Qantas points bonus or not..

Spoke to someone from MAC. Ive been informed that we will get another cert with the $12k spend without waiting a year. As long as we hit $12k we will get the other cert. Received my first cert for the $2k spend within 3 days of spend.
