AFAIK, any Qualifying stays/nights you have in the 90 day period "count" toward qualification.

It does not matter when they were booked, how they were booked, where they were booked or where a Hotel is located.

I had prebooked stays and qualified - and am enjoying my Gold status :p

Great to hear:D 6 nights at Hilton KL, followed by 5 nights at Hilton coughet in July should see me back at Gold, hopefully til April 2013.

HHonors have been very good to me. In the last 3 years or so that I was Gold, I have stayed at a Hilton group, maybe 20-25 times, and have only not been upgraded to the executive room twice. Once at Conrad Bali, and the other at Hilton KL....both times the hotel was completely full (confirmed by being unable to book a single room online). The guaranteed breakfast and free internet are 2 benefits I really value!

But is it still the 16 stays to requalify or can you nominate a period for 4 stays again?
A good question. It is tough for those who travel mainly in Oz to maintain status, especially with no Hilton family hotels in Canberra, Tassie, Darwin or in any regional centres. I'm staying about 25 nights in Hiltons, but that's not enough to re-qualify.
Have wondered myself whether we can use the MVP fast track again or if its a one off and the system will lock you out of a second fast track? If that is the case and you don't have enough stays / nights to requalify there are 2 possibilities:
1)I was offered a fast track last year when my status was about to drop from Silver to Blue - Diamond for 7 stays / 26 nights.
2) Status match another program. There are reports on AFF of successful status matches - I have SPG Gold and PC Platinum both via Amex Platinum Charge.

How do you know if this is all working as it should? I registered on the weekend, booked a long stay at South Wharf in MEL and presumably everything is going to count and be ok, no email mentioning MVP, nothing in my profile at the HHonors site.

Should I ring to make sure???

From memory there was no confirmation email, but a quick call to HH for peace of mind doesn't do any harm.

There is no email notification but if you go to the Hilton MVP Family landing page and enter your HHonors number and pin the reservation and your starting date for the promo should be on there

Ahh, ok. I did notice that, but wondered if it were no more then a local browser cookie at work.

I think I'll ring anyway, just so I can let it go and get on with life (hehe).

Thanks to the poster. I got my HHonors Gold now after four stays. A note of warning for new members like me, if you book through a third party website, the stay does not count.

Thanks Serfty,

Just got back from the MEL Hilton SW and am now gold. Really appreciate the heads-up on the MVP.

Did you like the hotel?

I'll do a write up at tripadvisor. but in short, yes, its a nice hotel. Really couldn't fault the hard or soft product.

There was a call for comments from a HSW employee over at FT a few months ago, great to see many of the suggestions made by people were directly and immediately picked up. This hotel has now become the one I judge others against.

How long after the last stay that meets the MVP challenge does it take for your account to show Gold? My points for the stay that meets the challenge posted today (checked out yesterday), but my account still does not show Gold:(

I looked at the website the next day after checking out of the HSW and my Hhonors account already said "Gold". Took 3 more days for the stay to show up in my history, though my hhonors points posted almost immediately.

Mine took about 3 - 4 days before it changed. I was checking it anxiously each day. :)

OK, good to know, thanks...I just assumed it would be instantaneous so I'll wait (im)patiently for the next 2 or 3 days...

My patience ran out...still not Gold this am..rang the US this am, and after a rather anxious 10 minute wait on the phone, Alice of HHonors, informed me that she had updated my account....refreshed the screen and am back to Gold again:D. Thanks serfty (once again) for the heads up regarding this promo!!

Good to hear that they were able to resolve it quicky over the phone.

Having directed the great majority of my stays to Hyatt this year (due in no small part to the fact I think their Gold Passport program is superior to HHonors, as well as the fact I'm spending a lot of time in CBR where this in no Hilton), I've found myself running waaaay short of Hilton stays. In fact, not only do I have no hope of retaining HHonors Diamond, Gold is looking slim with just 10 stays so far.

With that in mind, I've signed up for the MVP four stays to Gold promo. There were reports on Flyertalk that it was possible to sign-up for this promo even if you already had Diamond or Gold, the thinking being that you weren't going to requalify.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Similarly, if I get the four stays with three months to go on my Diamond, is Hilton likely to (i) bump me down to Gold immediately or (ii) not honour the Gold once the Diamond expires?

Personally I consider thing like the MVP a fast track to gold.

I really think the answer may be no; maybe you could check the extensive FT thread on this.
