Does the Hilton website (tried Asia and UK so far) annoy anyone else when it makes you pay the highest single night rate for a stay covering different rates? For example, I wanted to price a booking in Shinjuko from 22nd-29th Dec and the nightly rate shoots up on the 22nd/23rd due to emperor's day but drops again. If I were to book two separate stays 22nd-24th and 24th-29th, it would be cheaper, by several hundred dollars.

It surely can't be too hard to fix, as the Hyatt gives different rates for each night and sums them at the end, making it cheaper for me to stay at the Hyatt under one booking.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for hotels in the Shinjuku area other than these two, or a preference for either? My nightly budget is ~30000JPY.

Thanks, Jon

Cynicor,

I agree entirely which is why I always look up each night independently. No suggestions for Shinjuku unfortunately.

I have not had that problem with NY hotels. I was quoted rates for several days and it priced the stay accordingly. I was then charged the wrong rate on check out but subsequently received a credit.

That's normal for many Hotel web sites, last year at Ozfest I had 3 separate bookings at Melbourne HOP for 3 concurrent nights. $139, $210, $180.

So the majority of you will book separate stays and check out each day? Are the hotels ok with this or are they used to people booking like this and just check you in for the whole time as one long stay?

They just link the bookings.

I hardly ever stay multiple nights in a Hilton or Intercontinental hotel but when I do I always check out the rates for each night and book accordingly....

I do too, but in my experience the Intercontinental booking engine is much better at working out the different rates for the different nights.

Hello, interesting question this is, I have booked a 3 night stay in thr Westin Auckland in NZ. I have made three separate bookings each with individual booking ref #'s, however have ensured same room type so hopefully won't have to check out of one and move rooms etc.

With regards to recognition via the hotels loyalty program, in this case SPG, is my stay over the duration of these three nights regarded as one stay, or as three separate stays, as I have individual booking #'s :?: Would appreciate if any body had info on this.

Was also considering staying at the Hilton Auckland, but got better rates at Westin, if anybody has any experiences with either hotel, or recommends another, please post advice.

All the best!

Interesting my corperate web booking manages to get the mixed rates from these hotel chains without issues. And all on a single booking.
Maybe an advantage the travel type companies have.

Booking a hilton in the USA will usually give you the rate for each night added up with a little warning note-'rate change during stay".however i had the same problem booking in Japan so a 3 night stay was 2 separate reservations. At checkin we were allocated the room for the 3 days and as for recognition it only counted as one stay but of course 3 nights. Not sure of SPG's treatment of this situation but i would think it would be the same.

If SPG is anything like Hilton and Priority Club then consecutive checkins and checkouts will still only count as 1 stay but you should get the correct number of nights credit.

What was the rate at the Westin? Some of us have paid for Hilton Premium Club membership and get a $99 room once a year plus 20% discount on room rates at all Hilton hotels in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. I managed to book the Auckland Hilton in September for 1 night at a cost of NZ$113, A$99.
