Logged on to Amex and noticed that Amex is currently running an offer with Hilton/Doubletree.
You'll need to register your Amex and spend $250 and above on Hilton or DT hotels in Australia and Amex will give you a $50 credit, applicable to 18/11/15 but only one credit per card. Enjoy! :D

I believe bank issued Amex is applicable, as posted on Ozbargain. The link to enroll as follows:

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Will probably use for Adelaide as the rate was a bit high but this makes it bearable.

Interesting .. and thanks ... did I see the T&C indicate one or more transactions. .. is that correct?

Here's the T&C:
A. The Offer
If you register an Eligible Card (your “Registered Card”) through the registration page, book direct at Hilton Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels in Australia, and spend $250 or more in one or more Eligible Transactions on your Registered Card between 00:01 (AEST) on 18 August 2015 and 23:59 (AEST) 18 November 2015 (the “Offer Period”), you will receive one $50 statement credit.
"spend $250 or more in one or more Eligible Transactions"

Does this mean:

  • "Spend $250 or more in [each of] one or more Eligible Transactions", or
  • "Spend $250 or more in [total over] one or more Eligible Transactions"
?

If the latter, I can benefit, if the former well I'd have to spend additional.

I hope it is the latter as I have 2 stays coming up...the first for $348 and the second for $477....if I can split the 2 bills over 3 Amex cards, I could save 3x $50!! ie Pay $348 as $250 (card A) and $148 (card B) for stay 1, then $250 (card C) and $222 (card B) for stay 2....what do you think?

Have 8 Hilton bookings before the expiry date.. Would be nice if this was on all of them...

How do Hilton treat you, especially for upgrades, if you split one stay into two separate bookings?

From my experience it makes no difference, they simply combine both bookings and treat them as one. One exception is if you book for one night (higher chance to get suite upgrade) and then extend your stay after check-in, then you will most likely be allowed to stay in the same room (unless hotel is fully booked the following day). I don't do it often but when I need to extend my stay then always book online the best available rate after check-in and then call reception to tell them I've just extended my stay and request to keep the same room (or suite).

This could be one way of getting more than one statement credit from a longer stay.

It never worked for me, no matter how many bookings or extensions I've done, if the nights are consecutive the system always look at it as one stay.

Maybe AMEX system is different, doesn't hurt to try I suppose.

Some of their previous promotions (e.g. the Woolworths one), have said that they can be in more than one transaction, and it has certainly worked.

Why split the stay up. Just split the payment across cards.

Have you done this for a prepaid rate, on the Hiltonhh website?

do let us know if it works for an overseas hilton stay
Firstly it's worth noting this is an Amex offer, not a Hilton offer.

The T&C's state (my bolding)

Card Members must register by saving this offer to this Card, book direct with Hilton Hotels & Resorts or DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels in Australia, and spend $250 or more on their accommodation including any other spend charged to their room, on their registered Card in one or more transactions, between 18/08/15 and 18/11/15 to receive one $50 statement credit.
Participation is limited to the first 20,000 Cards to register, and the offer is limited to one statement credit per registered Card.
Offer valid only by booking direct with Hilton Hotels & Resorts or DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels in Australia. 'Book direct' refers to booking or reserving a room via any 'Hilton booking Channel'. Booking channels include: Hilton HHonors Customer Care (call centre), any of their Brand.com sites (such as: HHonors.com, Hilton.com, Doubletree.com etc.) or directly on premise with the hotel.

Note it does NOT say the booking must be in Australia it say's you must book in Australia. MY bet would be that if Amex get a charge from the merchant code used by Hilton Australia you will get the credit, Amex will be giving the rebate based on the merchant code not the physical location of the hotel.

So I think the answer to this question depends on how you book rather than the location of the hotel. Via the Australian Call Centre very likely to get the credit, direct with the overseas hotel, almost certainly not. My understanding of the website is they dont have location based website so once again probably not.

Of course that's just an opinion.

Agree with this, Amex are the ones giving the credits, they will see multiple transactions, they wont know its one stay.
