While I am sure its no great loss, it was somewhat surprising to hear the HI Rooty Hill is now a Novotel, ironically its still listed in the pointbreaks section as the only hotel available in Australia, even though the hotel has gone from the IHG website.

Don't knock HI Rooty Hill:oops:...it is a great hotel if you need a cheap stay for a PC promo...I stayed here 1 night 2 years ago for $90 to kick off a quadruple pt bonus promo on your second stay onwards....I then stayed at CP Wuzhou in Beijing for a week and got a whopping 80K+ PC pts:mrgreen:

The hotel itself is not too bad...but the location absolutely sucks!; you are in the middle of nowhere and are miles from the Sydney CBD if you are a tourist....on the plus side, it is only a short trip to the Blue Mountains:rolleyes:

I had been staying at the Rooty Hill while it was a HI. Stayed there again as a Novotel last week... Got to say that if you blink as you enter and dont see the Novotel sign, there really isn't much difference... In fact the only differences I noted where :
1. the loss of the complementary bottle of water and apple in the exec rooms.
2. No more bath robe in the exec rooms...
But rest assured, the service remains average and the breakfast buffet is still not worth the $25..... But the location works for me (Nearer to family) and still a decent price...
