Hi Everyone, I'm a new member who joined a couple of days ago.

I've been reading various threads across the forums, and the wealth of knowledge and information on here is truly overwhelming for a newcomer to this whole scene. But I think I'm ever so slowly coming to terms with various terminology.

Since I don't fly all that often for my job, and when I do it's only domestically on the east coast, I'm certainly not a frequent flyer, but I'm keen to understand the ins and outs of points earning.

I'm particularly interested in some of the points buying promos and have been working my way through the Lifemiles and AAadvantage threads to better understand what is available and how to go about it.

Thanks to all those contributors who have shared their knowledge. Hopefully I will be able to add my own experiences to this in the future.

Cheers,
Paul (StringerBell)

Welcome aboard. Here are some abbreviations and acronyms: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ions/abbreviations-and-explanations-5056.html

If you complete some info on your profile (shows up on the left) such as location, FF programs etc, it will help us help a bit better if you pose some questions.

Important thing to remember about earning points is to know what you want to use them for. For instance "a free flight in business to Europe" ... so note where in threads it discusses the difficulties of getting 'award' flights, especially if you have no status on the airline (need to book a long time ahead). Also, there can be significant fees and charges for many airlines for 'free' flights. All this is OK, if that's what you want to do. But try to set an objective and know the hurdles to obtaining that objective.
