Time to come out of the lurker shadows and say hi. I've been gold Velocity for a few years.
Just returned from a couple weeks holiday in Ubud Bali with my wife and two teenage kids. Flew Virgin Aust. Two of the return flights were on points and two I paid for, direct Bris - Denpasar but via Perth on the return..
The highlight of the flying portion of the trip was when the lounge upgraded all four of us to business on the A330 Perth - Bris. The kids loved that, and I got some sleep, which is rare given I am 6'4".
Anyway, great forums and I hope to contribute something useful some time soon.
cheers.

Great to have you onboard Tallman!

Sounds like VA looked after you & your family quite well on your return...... nice!

I must be one of the few Aussie's that haven't been to Bali.....yet...... any recommendations on Bali?

Add me to that list.

Oh, and if I was silly enough to go I would not want to go Jetstar or Virgin.

Thanks all.
recommendations for Bali, Phil? Well, Legian beach is great for lazing, swimming, and watching sunsets. Ubud is still nice but isn't what it was, now choked with huge buses full of day-trippers, and more than half the little galleries have closed in the past 4 years. The Elephant Safari Park and Lodge was expensive but absolutely amazing. And any long walk through the rice paddies is a great recharge of the spirit.
cheers.

I am heading there for the first time later this week! Looking forward to see what all the hype is about!

Just realized I failed to give credit to the crew on the VA A330. They were fantastic - friendly, attentive, flexible, and very tolerant. To fit the four of us into business they sat my wife and I together but my two teenagers sat in single seats in different rows. My son (13yo) therefore directed his 101 questions about the seat and the entertainment system to the steward rather than to me, and the guy could not have been more patient.
