Hi All! I’m very new to trying to build frequent flyer points and am torn between getting AMEX Velocity & AMEX Qantas cards. However, I’ve read it’s better to go more flexible and am thinking about the AMEX Explorer card.

Any advice & suggestions would be much appreciated (even if there are better credit card options). There’s so much info out there can get a little overwhelming :)

A warm welcome @rossoneri496 .
The first thing to do is pick your Loyalty program. I guess most on here would say Qantas. More routes, more partners including Oneworld.
However like most what I want from a loyalty scheme is premium cabin awards. Unfortunately on routes I want to fly I have no luck. To really make QFF work you need status.
I now am with Velocity and in the last 2 years have used them for at least 8 SQ J awards. These were made when I had no status. I have also been able to buy Velocity points when they have a sale once or twice a year. This means some of my awards do cost as I have bought the points. however I am paying 30-40% of the advertised J fare which I think is a bargain.

You will almost certainly have different travel plans to me so study the programs, try dummy bookings for awards to see if what you want is available.
And most of all enjoy the process.
