Received a new "Ascent" magazine yesterday.

One BONUS offer that stands out (to me at least) is 25% on MR point transfers to HHonors®.

e.g. 20,000->20,000HH + 5,000HH bonus -> 25,000HHonors

It's still an Awful transfer rate though - let's move 60,607 points to AA say:

Amex-SPG-AA

60,607 -> 20,000 -> 25,000

Under the old system where you could transfer points from HHonors to AA (having trouble tracking it down) Amex-HHonors-AA

60,607 -> 75,758 -> 11,363

I guess if not going on to AA it is a much better exchange rate...

Yes I noticed that too.
But not beinga HH member myseld I wondered what type of value do you get for your points?

I assume best use if for Hotel Room nights??

Or is there some other redemption that is good value for HH points?

A top Hotel (Waldorf in NY on low season or Conrad in HKG) would be 40K/night

It's still an Awful transfer rate though - let's move 60,607 points to AA say:

Amex-SPG-AA

60,700 -> 20,000 -> 25,000

I actually use HHonors points; some 105000 this year alone - Saving $1300 in accommodation costs.

Direct Amex MR to HH is normally 1000:1000 - with this promo it's 1000:1250.

Earlier this year, with the SPG error rate I used it via AA to get points. This rate finished two weeks ago. With this 25% promotion direct transfer to HH are even better.

Pre March 2008 (& from Jan 2009):
60,000 AX MR -> 60,000 HH
OR
60,700 AX MR-> 20,031 SPG -> 25,000 AA -> +USD25 ->50,000 HH

March to September 08:
33,000 AX MR -> 33,000 HH
OR
33,400 AX MR-> 20,000 SPG -> 25,000 AA -> +USD25 ->50,000 HH
Now 'til end of Dec:
60,000 AX MR -> 75,000 HH
OR
60,700 AX MR-> 20,000 SPG -> 25,000 AA -> +USD30 ->50,000 HH

Thanks.

So that is 1300 x 100/ 105,000 = 1.23 cents per HH point.

With the 25% bonus = 1.55

((Though not knowing the HH scheme you my, or may not, be able to optimise redemption for better value.....))

Hmmm, considering that I was fortunate enough to transfer all of my pre-promo points across from Ascent to SPG and onto AA before 30 Sep, I now have such a low balance that I don't have any need to transfer points. If I did have any, this would seem to be a "decent" rate.

I have enough HH points to last a while (as well as PC ones)
