Hi

I am trying to meet up with some friends in Cape town in August 14 and I thought I may as well continue onto South America to have a look following the World Cup.

My pricing shows I can get SYD via JNB to CPT for $A 2500 in PE on 4 August 14 followed by CPT to RIO via DXB for A$902 in Y on 9 August 14, then RIO to SCL for $A 787 on Aerolinias Argentinas / KLM in Y on 13 August 14 and finally on 16 August 14 I can get SCL to SYD on Qantas for $A 2995 in PE.

Total pricing over $7,000.

Prefer One World product but trying to use the Oneworld system it keeps keeps failing before final pricing.

Any help or advice?

Can it be done cheaper on mixed class?

Thank you

Do you have any further travel plans for the next year? I would get to JNB, then do a LONEx or even DONEx from there, saving the final ex au legs for another trip within a year.

No other more specific advice than that really, but should be do-able for not too much more than you are already planning, if you can slum it in Y to JNB.

Have you looked at AFF's former favourite travel site, www.expedia.com.br?

It is showing flights from Rio to Santiago on LAN then onto Sydney on QF, all in premium economy for $3000 aud ... Saves the $700 KL/AR fare...

An ex Australia one world economy fare will cost you $3899 AUD + taxes/fuel surcharges + $2900 USD to travel in Y+ on the sectors you mentioned instead of economy.

Thx for your ideas, may have to go back to reconsider the budget. It is so expensive south rather than north.

Yes, options are limited and it is expensive to fly southern routes. Given that it's a long journey to go CPT-DXB-GIG anyway, it may be much cheaper and not much longer just to do separate return trips!

2 things to consider here:

1. On your one-way CPT-DXB-GIG leg using EK, change this to a multi-city CPT-DXB-GIG on Aug 9 and then GIG-EZE on Aug 13. It is pretty much the same price and flights from EZE-SCL are possibly cheaper since it is way closer.

2. South America is always expensive to get to/from.
