If your socks end up as pizza condiments, what about your biros?

What tha!

Woosh; that's the sound of this one going straight over my head ... :-|

Anyway Back OT:

To summarise:

If travelling via LHR on separate PNR's, one should allow a minimum of 4 hours to connect. Six hours is better). FWIW, In March last year, my QF29 flight arrived in LHR over 3½ hours late; it is unlikely that 4 hours would have been enough.

So far most flights are BA->BA except for the last one which may be BA->IB.

I will need to take special care on the BA->IB connection on 2 separate tickets!

Not sure where you are going to on IB, but MAD is also terrible at baggage handling. Pretty neck and neck with LHR in terms of lost bags and delays delivering bags. Given how bad LHR is, that is saying something.

It is all hypothetical at this stage until, if, I book the trip.

I was thinking of LHR-BCN-MAD-JNB either on BA->IB or IB->IB, with BCN-MAD-JNB the single flight. But there are others that may eventuate, like FRA-MAD-BRU or FRA-MAD-GVA. Depends on type of mood I am in at the time of looking at the award booking engine.

By the way the QF award booking engine is offering connections through LHR at around 1:30 hours, obviously on the same ticket. According to the information on this thread any of these booked would more than likely fail.

Thanks for all your help and good to know this information but I may just end up scrapping this trip anyway. I have had to change itinerary more times than I care to remember and the cost, right now, for taxes and charges is around $970 for a "free" award ticket.

That's why I have just bitten the bullet and paid for a QF ticket SIN-SYD-SIN. It cost AUD 750, but a "free" ticket would've cost $400.

Why is it that Qantas is the most profitable airline in the world... ?
(You don't need to answer this).
