Hi there,

I'm looking for some help with an airfare search. I'm heading over to Barbados for a week soon after Christmas, then planning to spend a couple of weeks seeing New York in the winter.

Itinerary:
  • 21/12 (+/- 2 days) MEL-BNE
  • 26/12 BNE-BGI
    • Hoping to fly over as soon as Xmas festivities wrap up, flying out of BNE late 25th or early 26th
    • Need to be in Barbados by Friday, around noon, for the weekly Fish Fry
    • Hoping for a lengthy stopover in MIA or NYC to grab 6-8 hours sleep in an airport hotel
  • 1/1 or 2/1 - BGI-NYC
    • preferably JFK
  • mid-Jan - NYC-MEL
    • either via Atlantic or the Pacific
    • super flexible on this one, and might be happy to fly Premium Economy if it means a good price on the outbound business ticket
Hoping to book all fares with VA or codeshare.

Velocity status - Platinum
Velocity points - approx. 150,000

I think phoning VFF up, would be your best shot, at least BNE - LAX, and LAX - MEL, VA7 and VA24, get that out of the way as to the booking side, its now quite close to Dec as it is, and its schools hols too.
Can you bear to separate the MEL - BNE trip from the BNE - LAX trip.
Think you would either have to use LAX if you use VA, and then the other flights can be DL, maybe business, maybe no business class if there is a "first" class, what we might call business.
Edit, you planning the BNE - US and back trip, do you plan to use points as in awards, or do you plan to pay cold hard $ for the J/discJ (C/D/I) seats?
From what I can see, DL does fly from NYC to BGI twice a week, only Thu and Sat, but your choice of using BNE, would have to see you use VA, as partner DL6795.
And LAX - MEL would be DL6792.
