Please help me understand what to do on my economy codeshare flight from BNE-LAX-MCO.
Husband and I are both veterans and suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. We really need to wrap our heads around what we need to do.

Single ticket issued by Qantas

Depart BNE on QF15
Arrive LAX at 5pm
Depart LAX at 10:07pm on QF operated by AA
Arrive MCO at 6:10am

Is this the correct sequence of events?

1. Land LAX at Terminal B
2. Clear customs at Terminal B
2. Clear security at Terminal B
3. Pickup checked bags at Terminal B
4. Walk to AA terminal (terminal not specified on my ticket?)
5. Checkin with AA
6. Check bags with AA
7. Clear security
8. We will have hours to wait now - what to do? 2 adults + 7 year old. Would like to go to a day pass lounge (star alliance?) but not if it’s going to add to my stress.
9. Board AA flight
10. Land MCO
11. Clear customs (again?)
12. Clear security
13. Pickup checked bags
14. Order an Uber/Lyft to Disney

Thanks for your help

Welcome to AFF @lunaemmett.

You should only clear customs/immigration at LAX. The AA flight will be a domestic flight. You may be able to transfer bags to AA after you finish the arrival formalities.

Have a look at Priority pass if you want access to a lounge.

Yes, pretty much spot on, but thankfully you can skip a few of those steps!

Basically arrive and pass through immigration. Collect bags. Your bags should be tagged all the way through to MCO and you should have boarding passes as well.

After collecting your bags you walk a few metres and just at the exit will be a ‘transfer/connections’ point. All the airlines are here. Find the AA counter and bag-drop and give them your bags, They will scan them and send them on their way.

Walk to the AA terminal, join the security line. Once you’re through that’s it!

Lounge passes… airlines in the US are starting to change access permissions. Some are only allowing entry before a ticketed flight on that airline. Some are restricting entry to 3 hours prior to departure. They are also expensive to buy unless you have a free one or ‘reduced price’ through something like Priority Pass or your credit card.

Arriving at 5pm you should expect to be inside the AA terminal around 7. You’ll have 2.5 hours before boarding. At around USD60 a pop for lounge access it can be expensive. Priority Pass, if there’s a lounge, will be around half that.

If you haven’t already done so, I’d recommend booking your MCO hotel from the night before you arrive. That way you can check straight in. having to wait 6 hours for your room after a red-eye is no fun! Just let the hotel know you will be a late check in (morning after) so they don’t cancel your room.

Do you happen to know what terminal AA departs from? My itinerary doesn’t say it.

It will likely be from Terminal 4 or Terminal 5. Terminal 4 is right next to Terminal B (Terminal B is the Tom Bradley International Terminal) and Terminal 5 is next to Terminal 4 (so in any case, it will be a short walk from Terminal B to either terminal).

I would check the flight status of the LAX-MCO flight on the AA site a day or two before as gates and terminals can often change for AA at short notice.
