I'm booking with JAL for SYD - FCO flying business class. The flight from Haneda to Heathrow is a BA codeshare arriving at Heathrow T5 and the flight to Rome is also BA departing from T5. But there's only 1:15 between flights which I understand is OK if luggage is checked all the way through to Rome.

Has anyone had experience with this sort of connection and if the flight from Japan is late will I be rebooked on a later flight without penalty.

So you're on JAL from SYD and BA from HND?
Do you have time to get from NRT to HND?

QF and NH fly SYD-HND. JL flys SYD-NRT.
If you are on JAL to Tokyo and BA from HND, then you'll have to enter Japan, collect bags and transfer to HND.

It's an overnight connection in Tokyo, I'm taking the limousine bus from Narita to Haneda and staying at the Haneda airport hotel.

But what I'm concerned about is the connection at Heathrow, I've been ticketed to arrive on JL7083 (BA codeshare) at 1:05pm and fly to Rome on BA556 departing at 2:20pm (1:15 between flights).

I'm trying to find out if my luggage will be checked all the way to Rome when I check in at Haneda. If I have to collect in I think I'll need to change to a later flight.

provided both flights are on the same ticket, there should be no issues with checking through.

just completed a similar routing but connected through to Nice....had 2.5 hours to connect and luggage was checked through from Melbourne....normally a reliable flight but you will land in either B or C and then need to take the train to terminal 5, clear security twice and then make your way to the Rome flight....We managed to do this in under 25 minutes so you should be ok assuming your flight arrives on time.
