Heads up about program changes

My trip last year got just over 2400SC. That same trip under the new earn would get around 1800, so provided I plan my flights right, I should still get platinum.
I think I'll work my way to LTG, then move to some other program.

Is the difference OW partners or $ class of ticket?

Partners.
Although this next short trip I have in August (long weekend in Tokyo) got 140SC each way last year. Now it's 120 each way - both on QF with same fare class.

This is why I'll be leaving QFF. I'll be hanging around in the short term due to MASA bookings delivering WP until March 2017.

With P class gone from QF, can you still book P class on AA & stll earn F SC's?

I only got 2600 QF pts (not including status bonus) for a SYD-SIN flight (discount economy O fare) yesterday. Should I be expecting a manual adjustment to ~3908 pts which is 1 QF pt per mile flown as the fare was booked pre 29 March?
The extra points were added the following day so I got the full amount as expected ie 3908 base QF pts...so some credit to QF that this has happened quickly without any input from myself!

Ok, another twist on pre March 29 and post 1 July flights. Booked flights pre March 29 for flights pre 1 July. Had to cancel as no longer needed to travel. I currently have the credit voucher still sitting as a voucher, and will book shortly (obviously after 29 March in all respects).

How do you think the points / SC will be treated? I was originally thinking all as post 1 July, but now thinking (based on people's past experiences with double SC eligibility etc., the fact that it is original "booking" date that is supposed to count, and the way the PNR / booking reference is treated) that this May end up treated as a pre 29 March booking.

What does anyone else think? There may be an opportunity to arbitrage pre 29 March bookings which have a low earn but could be cancelled and used to book flights which have now been significantly devalued from an earn perspective.

Some people at QF have said that points/SC earn will depend on the booking creation date.

Other people at QF have said that points/SC earn will depend on the most recent ticketing date.

I can't see it addressed in the T&Cs, and the "Fairer Flying FAQs" leave room for interpretation.

Me too. I've retained WP but will not get WP1 this year & as I am LTG there is no incentive to fly the big red rat. My next booking is going to a *A airline and start going for status there too. Hopefully by the time I lose WP I will be *A equivalent. The simpler fairer changes have given me the incentive to look for simpler fairer flights outside OW

Try applying for a Status Match with Turkish Airlines, and you may not have to wait to be *A equivalent... (Or credit to Aegean Airlines, is another approach for fast *A status).

Any chance of a heads up by private message so I can try to retian WP otherwise I am doomed to slide

What sort of heads up are you after?

There is still value in SE Asia on CX and MH if you need SCs. And LAN SYD-AKL return is not too bad either.

Has it not halved?

Has it halved? Apologies if that is the case.

I was under the impression it went from 160SCs return in business to 120SCs return in business. Still pretty good value in my eyes factoring in duty free as well.

Apologies if that is the case. I must have somehow misread the numbers when I first saw it.

Back to the drawing board. :(

Yes perhaps the ridiculousness of the changes hasn't yet sunk in with you yet.

I think you totally misunderstand me.

I don't like the changes but I haven't given up because there isn't a better alternative for me.
