Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

My Platinum card with Qantas cash option arrived Mon 2 Sept. As others have commented, the benefit of the cash option is not all that clear to me, especially when I always have at least my personal plus my work credit cards with me when travelling. I also find that ATM's work almost everywhere I travel overseas. Think I will put the Qantas cash option on indefinite hold.

+1 for me on that approach.

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

Got the new pack today. The Platinum One pack is certainly impressive and a step above the first cards issued.
The card is a major improvement on the old one, and although the Qantas logo blends in well with the colour scheme, overall the card is great.

White bag tags are a major plus too. I wonder why the text is in the middle of the tag and not bottom aligned like the other Q tags? In any case I think it's a plus and another ++positive for P1.

The leather wallet the pack arrived in is going to be on the 'keep' list too. Tablets fit into it nicely and even has Platinum One embossed in the corner.

Overall I think QFF did a great job with the P1 pack. (y)

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

Received my new Plat and QCash card yesterday, activated the QCash account last night. All very painless despite various warnings to have different ID types ready, nothing needed. The card is less impressive than the more solid, traditional card - reminded me more of a business card!

I can't see myself using the QCash facility in Australia, conversion rates looked "interesting" - but that was compared with the "typical" rates spoken to on the TV news - which we know to be far from "typical" when selling AUD! I will look into this further when next traveling overseas.

Checked the barcode this morning boarding the 675 - all checked-out OK.

Has anyone managed to work out if it's possible to change the PIN to one of your own choosing?

Regards,

BD

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

The PDS says pin change is not possible.

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

The PDS says pin change is not possible.

A pain in the butt, and one that generally makes card less secure as people have a greater tendancy to write forced PINs on the card.

My life is run by pins and passwords. I try to keep a theme. But a completely random one? Not going to work for me.

Yes I have ditched credit cards in the past for the same reason.

I know right.... whats with these sites wanting one upper case, one lower, one number, one special character and a password you've never used in the past 10 years. argh!

My AFF password was "12345678" for a long time... security through obscurity!

yes, slightly off topic sorry but I was annoyed when Diners made me change my passsword recently. Naturally two days later I couldn't log in because I couldn't remember it correctly

Quietly heads to Flyertalk.com :p

alas, flyertalk ive never changed my password in almost 10 years :)

My ATM pin was "1234" for a long time too. Think about it... who would ever guess to try that as a pin given you're told never to use that number?

It's even more than that. They ask you to create a password with no comment about their security requirements. Then you enter your preferred one and it comes back with an error message saying "do this do that with a spot of that" and I've had some sites that have automatically deleted all the previously entered data!

Looks like Qantas Cash is only available for Australian residents so will have to wait and see how long it takes to roll out in New Zealand, if at all.

Question asked and answered at yesterday's QCash lunch in Melbourne ... they supply the PIN and it cannot be changed.

There was no indication of any future plan to change this.

FWIW, my card arrived yesterday.

First thing I'd try. I remember reading a scientific article a while ago that said that it was the most commonly used pin code followed by 2580 or something.

New WP card received last week, and based on the PDS and ridiculous fees and charges, currency conversion and minimal point earn, I shan't be activating it.

Lol! 2580 - a vertical line though the middle of most numeric keypads.

1236 would be easier to enter on such keypads than 1234.
