Have Australian hotels lost the wow factor? | News.com.au

AUSTRALIAN hotels have failed to make a prestigious list of the world's best new hotels.

The 16th annual “Hot List” has been released by Conde Nast Traveller magazine listing 121 properties in 49 countries - with Australia a notable exception.

The hotels were judged by the magazine's editors who looked for impeccable service, excellent food and beautiful grounds, with properties from Argentina to Botswana and Ecuador making the cut.

Not surprising at all.

Australia is too busy being the poster child for mediocre franchise opportunities. :rolleyes. One day the desire to excel will return, but not until the eocnomy implodes under the weight of yet another business built to turn over cash while offering little of interest or value to the world at large.

I am with Saji on this. Australian hotels are generally ok, but none have struck me as having a Wow facter.
