Has Global Warming shrunk the World???

Noticed that the OW interactive planner has recently made changes to the distances between cities. Most seem to have been reduced a little. For example MEL is apparently now 707km from SYD but up until recently it was 734km.
I'm gonna blame Global Warming for shrinking the Earth - my theory is that it's drying up and in another 50 years it will have as many wrinkles in its surface as a prune!
