Hi

My husband and I have three hours to kill at Changi after arriving into SIN from BNE before heading off to LHR. Hopefully this will give us enough time to have a quick swim in the swimming pool near the transit hotel before boarding our next flight. Has anyone else used this pool? Is it nice? Your feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Linny

I have used in on a 3.5 hour transit, on a BNE-SIN-LHR transit.

Depending on the time of day then its still humid even at 7:00am in the morning when I used it.

Hi Bundy Bear. Our flight from BNE arrives into SIN at 1950 and we depart SIN bound for LHR at 2255. From what I remember of Singapore, it should be nice and humid that time of night too. We are really looking forward to it. This will be the first time we have done the Australia to UK thing in one go though! Have always broken it up with a few nights in SIN in each direction. I am a little bit apprehensive of how I will fare doing the whole thing in one go so hopefully the swim in the pool will do me wonders between flights!

We spent 9hrs in transit at SIN when we flew SQ from Adelaide to Johannesburg and made good use of the Pool and Shower facilities. They provide towels, shampoo etc and a voucher for a soft drink from the attached bar.

I've posted a trip report on SQTalk where I posted some photos of the pool area. FF won't let me post the web address but if you google sqtalk and under trip reports search for my report called "Trip To South Africa" you'll be able to see.

Just remember that you will need to access the Transit Hotel from T1 as the pool area cannot be accessed from T2 or T3.

To be pedantic, and to clarify this comment (particularly for those not familiar with SIN), the pool area cannot be directly accessed from T2 or T3. It can still be accessed by catching from the skytrain from T2 or T3 to T1 (2 or 3 minute ride) and proceed to the pool/transit hotel area in T1 (no more than 5 minute walk from the skytrain stations).

Hi, I have a 9 hour layover soon in SIN.
Tossing up between using the SQ t2 Lounge beds, or heading into SIN city.
This pool sounds like a good alternative.
IS there any cost to use it? THanks for the info and replies to OP.
David.

Slightly OT, I suppose, but what do those who have swum there find to be the most effective way of storing wet swimsuits for the next leg of the journey?

My personal approach would be a tied off plastic bag to go in carry-on but others may have a better idea (disposable paper togs etc.).

I have a surf brand backpack which has two compartments with waterproofing material in each (if that makes sense!) I am going to put my swimmers in a plastic bag in one of those compartments and then as soon as we get to London hang them up in the bathroom!!! Luckily the pool supplies the towels! :p

There may be a flaw in this plan.....;) ... though I can see how it would take care of what to do with the bathers!!

I assume they don't have one, but this is one place where a small centrifuge in the change rooms would come in really handy. Used them in a few places and they really do wring out the bathers quite well in a few seconds.

I bought and used some paper bathers at the Ho Jo hotel in SUX in the early 1980's. As I recall, they were cheap and quite durable. Don't know if the bathers product still exists but the hotel is now a Holiday Inn.

My suggestion is once you've wrung out as much of the water as possible, throw them into a travel space bag, push all the air out and then just throw it in your carry-on inside another plastic bag for good measure.

Might take an extra 5min, but if you're on a long layover its not going to be that much time.

For the swimmers a med zip lock bag with the air pushed out works perfectly well. The pool is nice with loungers and shade if you want it. The showers are average and if you have lounge access in the terminal I would use the showers there.
