115cm is approved for both INT and DOM (on QF at least), it is just on INT you can only have 1x 115 or 1x 105, where as DOM you can have either 1x 115 or 2x 105's.
Has anyone here ever been denied 2 rollaboards on QANTAS, because they were both over 105 cm?
Indeed, but if you have a backpack and a 115cm rollaboard?
My reading is that if you have anything larger than 105cm, then you are relinquishing your rights to a second bag of any size (save for jacket, hand bag, etc).
So:
2x backpacks = fine
1x 105 and backpack = fine
1x 106+ and backpack = fail.

does this apply just to QF or will Emirates be okay with that, too (in J)?
Looks like Emirates are a similar:
Cabin Baggage Rules | Baggage | Essential Information | Emirates Online Booking and Planning | Emirates Australia
Am I reading right that it is 1x 80 (backpack) plus 1x 113 (roll aboard)?

yeah I looked at Emirates baggage page. Looks like they are a lot stricter than QF.
I don't see your sizes quoted at all - more like 1 x 45 and 1 x 55
A bit tightarsed given that their 380 J cabin is huge, there's heaps of carry on baggage space and the flight AKL - SYD is usually pretty empty!
Any experiences here that suggests that you can take 1x 80 (backpack) plus 1x 113 (roll aboard) on Emirates?
