On 1 April, my wife and I used a ~$300 flight credit to purchase flights from Brisbane to Hobart in September. The flight credit came from a cancelled flight booked during the early 2020 DSC.
I called Qantas today (since Qantas says not to call unless the flight date is close) to add my infant daughter. She wasn’t on the flight credit and I’ve done this with another credit and had no issues.
Today, the operator said my flight was pending not confirmed. It is showing as confirmed in the PNR in my bookings. I’ve also received flight updates as changes were made to my flight. I thought everything was all good. The operator said the fare class was sold out (E, I presume, as that’s what’s showing in the PNR). I’d need to pay full price some $800.
I obviously didn’t want to do this so I asked for the matter to be escalated. After a lengthy time on hold he returned to say he needed to restart his computer and call me back. A couple of hours later, I’m still waiting...
I've sent a few PMs to try and find out the cost of the flights. I unfortunately didn’t keep a record. It also seems I was never charged for the flights as I can't find a record on my CC statements. That means, I don’t know the difference between the credit and the cost. I just know $800 + the $300 I've already paid seems too much. It's about the current price on sale.
Does anybody know what September 2021 BNE to HBA and HBA to BNE flights cost under the “half-off” sale?
Also, my PNR is now showing the originally cancelled flight. When I click on “email itinerary” I received an itinerary with that flight.
If/when the operator calls back, do you have any tips for resolving this?
From previous threads, it seems the booking needs to be ticketed. I’d obviously like the flight to be ticketed at the half-off cost. Surely, Qantas would have a record of what it sold me? After all, they turned my credit into an updated booking.
