I'm considering a flight from OGG-SFO with Hawaiian Airlines (OGG-xHNL-xLAX-SFO). The flight leaves OGG at 06:09 arriving in HNL at 06:41 with a connection time of 1h 19m until the HNL flight at 08:00.

I found the fare on Ita Matrix and plugged it into the HA site, but it wouldn't proceed because of the short connection time, however Expedia will let me book it as is.

Will I still be covered by HA if the OGG flight is delayed into HNL?

Does anyone have experince transferring from Inter-island to Domestic and can advise whether connection time is doable?

MCT at HNL for HA is 75 minutes for a Neighbour Island to North America transfer. So, you should be protected if for any missed connections on the same ticket.

HA fly non-stop from Oakland (OAK) & San Jose (SJC) to OGG which would avoid the transit in HNL so might be worth comparing those prices to the flights via HNL.

And herein lies the problem - I'm looking at F - the direct flight with great timing is US $1,038 for 80 SC's and the non direct with a horrible early start, is US $780 for 120 SC's (the last leg LAX-SFO adds no SC's as it's codeshare, but should be a nice flight with VX).

Doesn't Expedia through up a non codeshare option?

BTW, Who are you looking to credit the SC's to?

I think I've tried every which way with the flight options at the lower price. I'm crediting to VA.

Just had another look at Expedia. With last leg DL or VX flight number, price jumps to US $1,500+

TBH it would probably be cheaper to do an AA KUPP SFO/SJU & SJU/OGG. Do DL have a similar fare like AA do?

Can you do an VA award ticket in whY for this sector then do a status run elsewhere that's more economical as West Coast to Hawaii can be ridiculously high sometimes?

I had a look at DL and couldn't make that work either. I guess this isn't really a true Status Run. I have Jnr#1 with me, and whilst she loves travelling, she hates the airport (waiting & queuing etc.), so I have to fit the "run" to the destination, dangling the first class cabin as the carrot ;). The prize for me is in the family pool.
