Guide: airport to city public transport around the world

For JFK (and NYC), the Metrocards reach end of life come December but the AirTrain is now taking contactless payments using the same OMNY terminals as the subway/buses.

The AirTrain is currently US$8.50 to Jamaica. Then E line (US$2.90) or LIR* to manhattan. I assume it’s the same to Howard Beach but the changeover at Jamaica is easier.

The AirTrain doesn’t count towards the weekly cap if using the subway / buses while in NYC.

You can create a login and register a CC/DC to track your trips towards the weekly cap and/or query incorrect charges.

*didn’t use the LIR but I believe it’s ticketed separately.

PS
JFK is a massive construction zone at the moment with terminal and roadworks.
