Guessing this flight is pretty full and the chance of a points upgrade small

Was hoping to use points to upgrade to J tonight as I just saw it has dreamtime seats (MEL-SYD) but based on the fare bucket availability I am guessing that is unlikely:

J3 C0 D0 I0 U0 Y3 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

I don't think I have seen such low availability on a domestic flight

If it was higher than J3 I might have been "expecting" an OpUp...

You never know.

Some availability could have been transferred from J buckets to Y buckets. I've received OpUps with similar loadings reported on E/F.

Try some of the flights later in the evening - J0, although the A333 is wide open at 7PM by comparison, after that is pretty much 1 or 2 J and thats it.

What flight is this?
Alot of the evening flights out of MEL tonight are very full, with over selling in Y (not too much). Upgrade to J using points would be good, but an op-up is highly unlikely as there isn't a huge amount of overselling. Even so the loads on these flights change every minute as people cancel and change flight when arriving at the airport.

Is the points upgrade request in the reservation or do you mean the one where you ask at the lounge?

I was going to ask in the lounge. I am not very hopeful at this point - but we should be at the airport around 4:45 so plenty of time for catering to be assured...

Well the odds have improved:
