Grange in the F lounge

As a P1 and even travelling in F I have never been escorted to the roped off area. I'll be insisting next time....
I've had a mixed experience. P1 no. F passenger, yes.

No grange though...

And I'm not a P1, but I can say that in the times I have been in the F lounge, I have not seen anyone getting escorted into the red roped off area ... I did see someone sitting there in one of my trips (assuming they were escorted) ... Also I think the lounge team could be aware of the equipment in use on the day .. say IME, most of the AM departures until 1030 are on the A330s or B787s with no F class ... so the lounge team will know that the roped off area will never be used until say a particular time? Just guessing here ...
Plenty of reports of P1 shown to the roped off area when heading to the Flounge (see P1 thread). My most recent F flights ex-SYD have been QF11... a morning flight. Haven't bothered with it previously as the lounge hasn't been too crowded and managed to get window-side tables anyway.

I wonder which entitled CL member asked for Grange at 9am or before. Absurd.
It’s in the P1/F section and they will fill the decanter when they open in the morning. I doubt any entitled passenger CL or other status is involved in this process.

No more absurd IMHO than having Taittinger at 0900am.
It’s just a bit of Xmas novelty that QF is putting on.

I get escorted there by the First host on the majority of my visits to SYD.

It’s for F and P1/CL traveling in any class, so it’s open during lounge hours.

I've managed to get some incredible Bordeaux reds in Emirates First Class Lounge. They have an amazing concept where they bring all the open bottles from their flights into the lounges

You do unfortunately get a lot of 'business class' wines in the first class lounge but I'd say for a lounge they serve incredible drops

Does anyone else know if other airlines do the same concept?
On the contrary, Singapore Airlines pour their 1st class premium wines down the sink prior to landing. I watched with tears as the CSM chucked a Cos d'estournel and a krug down the sluice. Customs and excise issue apparently.

EDIT: "Yes, I know Cruiser, I should have drunk them both on the flight"

You have the experience there, not me, but I would be surprised if they proactively just opened a bottle of Grange in the morning on spec that someone might want some.

I think it would be more flattering to an F, CL or P1 if, on request, the concierge said delightedly yes, would be happy to open a bottle for you.

I know personally two people who have been there early in the morning this week and it’s already been decanted. I think it would take too long between request and service if the wine had not already been decanted.

If this ain't the motivation to get P1, I'm not sure what else is .... 🤣🤣
LOL. Only if you drink wine right? I'm glad I do not understand the obsession some people have with the type of wine that's on offer.

P.S. I'll have a glass of champagne Christmas morning in the SYD F lounge before QF flight to BKK and that will more than likely be my last visit to the F lounge.

I prefer the emirates method and me and my wife have always walked away with takeaway cups

Rather not waste anything

Opened Reddit, seems it was on offer again today so not a one off.
