Grand Canyon Flights

Being 1998 my experience of company name-Eagle Canyon Airlines is probably now irrelevant. Were there in May. Left Vegas by plane in shorts & T shirt & arrived at Canyon to endure snow & cancellations of helicopter flights. Short break in snow meant we got up for fantastic experience. We were in 4 passenger craft with glass bottom in front so that seat next to pilot was best. Having been weighed meant I was on outside at back, also better than middle back

Hi
Can't help with a company name I'm afraid but we booked at the tour desk in the hotel on the edge of the canyon and it was one of the companies operating from the main Helipad. The interesting thing was that we initially paid for the shortest/cheapest trip but due to a load balancing requirement were comp-ed to the deluxe tour around. Others have told me this happens from time to time so may be worth asking when you book whether there is a day/departure/route that it would help them if you booked on it and striking a deal on price....

"Sundance helicopters" is the mob you wan't. I took their chopper flight in 2007 as part of our honeymoon. They are the only mob that can actually land in the canyon. Its a great experience. They take you into the canyon, over the Hoover dam, and back along the Vegas strip. We went early in the morning which is best as it gets very hot later in the day.
They include limo transfers as well.

Some of the other operators go from other airports which may be an hours drive before you get on the actual chopper, these guys go from McCarran which is a 5 minute drive from the strip.

If they take you by limo from vegas, then helicopter direct to the canyon, they're only operating in the area known as West Grand Canyon which is regarded as secondary to the traditional Grand Canyon visit. The latter is also known as South Grand Canyon. You can get helicopter flights over both, but they don't land in the southern area due to accessibility/depth. West Grand Canyon is much closer to Vegas though, so there are more of those tours available to the West.

You can do day trips by plane out of Vegas to the South Grand Canyon airport (which is what it sounds like RB referred to), then take a helicopter flight or other tour from the south as well, or just take a helicopter flight on its own from the south area too. It comes down mainly to time and preference.
