Agree it’s a lovely story. Hate to break it to you: it seems not to be true! However, the truth is arguably more striking than the myth. The Government Code & Cypher School (Bletchley Park) recruited a wide range of experts in various fields because of a realisation that the best minds for decrypting Enigma etc would not be limited to specialists in maths and languages. Tandy was consciously (not mistakenly) selected as a candidate and he did some excellent work there, some of which made use of his marine botany expertise. Artifical Flowers
Trolleys and carts
Artifical Turf
Wheelbarrows
Numers and Letters

Good thing this is the right aisle to fix them!
