On the difference that punctuation (and parsing) can make...

As Greed

My life is full, indeed, of gloom.
Iā€™ve naught, you see; just this small room.
I need more wealth ā€” thatā€™s misery.
What joys in great renown! What glee!
The mace and throne I long to own.
No crown too grand for me alone.

As Contentment

My life is full, indeed!
Of gloom Iā€™ve naught, you see.
Just this small room I need.
More wealth? Thatā€™s misery.
What joyā€™s in great renown?
What glee, the mace and throne?
I long to own no crown.
Too grand for me alone.

A fare evading fair invader!šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
This is taken from The Guardian and I am convinced that they use a basic speech converter to created these "word for word" chunks of text/quotes from whoever is speaking at a press conference and do a direct copy and paste into their article without any proof reading to get it up online in the quickest time possible. I see many grammar and spelling errors in these types of quotes in The Guardian all the time.

It's definitely speech to text.

I watched that media conference today and the quote is close to what was said, but spelling and grammar are not the only issue.

The real clanger is that the Deputy Police Commissioner's name is Steve Gollschewski.

Who the heck is Doug?

John Richards, a British newspaperman who attracted a flurry of international attention when he founded and later resignedly disbanded the Apostrophe Protection Society, a self-styled bulwark against the ā€œbarbariansā€ laying waste to a humble yet essential element of the English language, died March 30 at a hospital in Boston, a town in Lincolnshire, England. He was 97.

How I wound up with a wound from heteronyms

In order to graduate from the graduate program at my university, every student was required to take part in a group discussion of heteronyms. My group asked me to take the lead which, alas, went over like a lead balloon.

I keep seeing things like this more and more. Can you "shop" something, or does there need to be a preposition there? I would have thought "shop for" was more correct.
