Hi there,
I have a flight many months away booked a bassinet seat 1A and seat 1E for another passenger. I was moved to 1E and 1F(No bassinet) on a QF A330 flight to Singapore. I have amended back myself, just wondering why this may have happened?
I'm sure there is a ton of reasons.

If Bronze, how were you able to book a bassinet seat many months away as they are usually blocked off because they are bulkhead seats.
As far as I know bassinet seats can be requested but not booked.

I had the capability to select them in the app and online. This has been the way for a long time as far as I know.

It might be worth giving Qantas a call, or reaching out to them via social media.

Remind them that you actually have an infant and require the bassinet seat.

Maybe there’s some system glitch moving you out.

No idea if QF can do anything, but it can’t hurt!

If QF play musical chairs again and I get kicked out again, I will definitely call.

Qantas has been making some aircraft and schedule changes related to A330 operations. It is possible that your flight was "adjusted" temporarily to a different seating configuration and then back again. While the end result is the same aircraft type/configuration, there can sometimes be seating re-assignments when this happens. It is normally related to parts of the aircraft where the original seat no longer exists so affected passengers are moved to new seats, then when the aircraft type changes back the same system decides there is no need to change these passengers again since their assigned seats are valid.

However, I do note that all of the A330 seat maps for QF aircraft show 1A as a bassinet position. Perhaps there was a temp change to A380 and back to A330? So that may explain the loss of 1A and being able to re-select it later. Not ideal, but sometimes computers get confused.

I prayed too hard for a a380 equipment swap lol.

You’d think a simple equipment swap could cause that except, AFAIK the J seats don’t change, just the first row of whY has a baby toss between window and middle seats…

The auto reseating that happens when there's a configuration swap keeps doing this... there's no valid reason for it happening and QF should fix it but that's another argument. You will want to keep an eye on it... it will probably keep happening.

If you have an INF in the PNR you can book the bassinets. Most Amadeus airlines have this functionality enabled. Amadeus is also smart enough to open up the neighbouring seats as well usually for travel companions.

Yes correct the neighboring seat opened up for me.

Could be too late if it catches you unaware and someone else grabs your seat
Stars quite clearly on my booking there is an infant 👶. Not sure if there is anything else that could be done.

Yes, I get it now. Some AFFer prefer those seats just because they are bulkheads.
Yep I love the bulk head seats for the leg room.
