Got 'express arrival card' as a SG, is this standard now?

Hi everyone, I flew from Shanghai to Sydney two days ago with Qantas and strange thing happened to me just after takeoff, as one of the flight attendent came to me and said 'Mr XX, this is a Express arrival card for you'. Of course I accepted it with a calm 'thank you'. To my understanding as a SG, I'm not entitled for this, right? Or this is the temporary apologetic move from QF to thank it's frequent flyer? Has this happened to anyone else before? And also I noticed people seated in the first couple of rows of Y don't have passenger sitting next to them(including me),I think it's not coincidence IMO. It was a good flight experience in every angle, keep it up, QF.

Consider yourself honoured. You often cannot/do not get them as WP.

Certainly not normal, but also certainly not unheard-of either.

I have received them when seated next to a Platinum/Emerald and I think the FA/CSM handing them out didn't want to have to explain why he got one and I didn't. Easier to just hand out another one.

Coming back from NZ 2 Sundays ago, my Express had my seat number 4A (hand) written on it when handed to me...

I normally get them at checkin. Rarely in the air.Well done!
I have only ever been given an Express Departures card at Check-in. I don't ever recall being handed an Express Arrivals card at Check-In, only ever on board the aircraft. Which airport do you receive an Express Arrivals card at check-in? Note, my international check-in's in Australia are nearly always at BNE.

I was given a departure pass at BNE QFd check-in when on my way to WLG via SYD. On the return in WLG I was not given anything at check in, however two NB friends checking in at the desk next to me were given arrivals passes. I think he might have name-dropped his occupation while I kept mine to myself... I saw a handfull of arrivals passes in the hands of the cabin crew when they were handing out inbound immigration cards but none were handed out to anyone that I could see

But in the end it did nae matter: the express path at SYD departures was longer than the empty regular line and the SYD arrivals hall was empty.

Aren't Oneworld Emeralds entitled to express immigation departure/arrival cards? Cathay always give me an express card for Bangkok but that may be due to travelling in business class rather than my Oneworld status.

I received both departure and arrival express cards at F check-in at SYD last month. I was actually surprised I was given both.

It's almost standard practice at SYD. I receive the Departure card 100% of the time (regardless of class of travel) and the Arrival card 95% of the time. The other 5% of the times, I just ask and they're happy to give you the Arrival card too.

I have only just returned to the lofty heights of Emeraldness this week. Have been sapphire for the last year and not generallt entitled to the express pass, though have been handed one on some occasions. But at check-in I have only ever been handed departure passes.

Ahh, perhaps the SYD/MEL F check-in do this. I do not get to use those facilities very much. I think I have used MEL once and don't think I have used SYD at all.

looks like I got really lucky, and I saved it for future use just in case, as SYD arrival hall at around 9:45am is absolutely empty.

I find it never hurts to ask. I even got an arrivals card on an NZ flight after asking. flying economy with low status.
