Seems you are way too short for the comment then. :D

My/our weekend away was spoilt. On arrival in MEL we were informed that our house was burgled last night. :(

Seems they only wanted easy sale items as a proof coin collection was all that we have noticed to have been taken. Laptops, TVs etc were not touched.

A few broken door locks and to contend with tonight and await the detectives in the morning.
Seems it was worse than we thought.

Our daughter's camera and accessories have gone and this afternoon we discovered an Amex Card missing. The lovely little people had spent about $2000 in various transactions and it only bounced when they tried to draw $1000 cash. All those cards are now shut down.

I might go to Harvey Norman in the morning and ask what we bought for $1248 today. A few of the places have cameras as does the sporting club where they have tried to palm off some of the proof coins.

About $6000 of 'stuff' taken plus the card transactions.

You worry too much JohnK. It might have been all good.:shock:
Who said I was worried? A holiday could be a blessing in disguise!

P.S. Sorry to hear about the burglary.

Thanks everyone.

Latest estimate is about $6000 of coins and camera gear. Good thing was there was no malicious damage and the Police got some good prints but we don't know who's they are yet. (They could be ours)
Just an update.

Some criminals are not very smart.

Use a stolen CC to buy an expensive item (so they were remembered) and give their actual names, address and phone number as well as being very clear and obvious on the store camera.

Two people have been arrested and tomorrow we get back whatever has been recovered. :D

I wonder what was going through the merchant's mind when they accepted a card for a purchase in the name of someone who doesn't match the name on the card.

Very dumb to use their own details, but luckily they didn't just choose someone else's details and frame them. If it's Harvey Norman, I know how their sale systems work.

Hope you get it all back. Sour end to what seemed like a great meetup.

Well thats some good news at least. Hope you get as much as possible back.

Also sorry to hear that straitman, the last thing you would have been expecting. Karma bit them hard - hope they enjoy their sojourn behind bars!
