6 of us are flying Turkish Airlines from Singapore to Turkey return.

We live in Melbourne, Australia.

So I'm curious to know which Airline Points Program I should sign up for - for better use of the points, and hopefully be able to use them back in Melbourne. I think Singapore to Istanbul return is probably 10,000 miles, so maybe 60,000 points odd.

Virgin or Qantas don't partner with them, but I saw they are part of Star Alliance, so I wonder if it's worth doing an Air New Zealand Membership or Singapore Airlines.

Any thoughts or tips?

What fare class are you booked in? This will make a difference to the earn rates with each frequent flyer program.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Especially with NZ... cheap fares on many airlines don't credit at all. On TK the following fare classes don't earn on NZ at all....I, R,X,N,P,W,U,G and F. Fare classes E,S,L,O,Q,T and V credit as "Discount Economy" ...which would credit 26 Airpoint Dollars each way (which is pitiful).
When you say 60,000 miles ..are you expecting to be able to POOL all the miles each passenger gets? You'll need to find a program that allows that as well...

I can't speak to the pluses or minuses of TK's OWN FF program.... but you MIGHT get a better crediting rate with it. Being a *A program you can then - in theory - use your TK miles to book any available *A flight (through TK) that you have enough miles for. One trip SIN-IST-SIN is however unlikely to provide enough points/miles per passenger to book anything other than a short domestic flight somewhere...if that. Sorry to sound negative!

Thanks all.

Yes it would be economy.

And yes I'd expect family pooling.

ANA and TK have family.point pooling but both with restrictions (need to fly ANA to redeem on a partner and need status respectively). NZ unlikely to be effective. Krisflyer probably best bet but check fare classes on wheretocredit.com

21 Airlines That Allow Families to Pool Miles - The Points Guy

Asiana allows family pooling for points but not status. Again be very careful with fare class. And double check on the airlines website.

Whichever is the cheapest fare. Thanks.

Sorry, but this still hasn’t answered my question. We can’t help you further without knowing the actual letter of the fare class.

Some of the cheaper fare classes don’t earn any miles when crediting to some Star Alliance programs.

Flying ADL-SIN-IST one way in J the whole way.
Currently crediting this to SQ but open to suggestions.

Hey @Dublin , @Mattg is asking for the fare class of your economy ticket. You can find it as I've shown below ;

163852
I did a quick search for SIN-IST return direct on 5th June and back after a week and as you can see, I have highlighted the fare class "Economy Promotion (W)", in which "W" is your fare class.

It will be helpful, if you can do a similar search for the dates you and your family are planning to travel and let this group know the fare class.

Cheers, hope I've helped
